Mitä ikinä mahtoikaan Enoksen syntymän aikoihin tapahtua tai alkaa (1. Moos. 4: 26) näen ja koen sen hyvin erilaisena verrattuna siihen, mitä Vanhassa Testamentissa kerrotaan Israelin Jumalasta (2. Moos. 24: 10). Katsokaamme Israelin Jumalan historiaa.
Whatever happened or began in the time when Enos was born (Gen. 4: 26) I think it's far from Old Testament's description of the God of Israel (Ex. 24: 10). He is namely approaching people, making union with them and pledging to be with them in all. In the time of Enos people began to call upon the Tetragrammaton, but the God of Israel is approaching individuals without anyone's calling. Let's look at the history of the God of Israel.
Aivan ensimmäiseksi Israelin Jumala esittäytyi nimellä Kaikkivaltias eli El-Shaddai. Hän ilmestyi Abramille Ismaelin syntymän jälkeen (1. Moos. Maa jossa he jo asuivat luvattiin perinnöksi heille ja heidän lapsilleen. Liiton merkiksi asetetiin ympärileikkaus, joka koski perheen miesväkeä. Liiton tärkein lupaus koski kuitenkin heille syntyvää poikalasta, Iisakia.
First of all the God of Israel introduced himself by the name Almighty or El-Shaddai. He appeared to Abram after Ismael was born (Gen. 17) and wanted to enter into a covenant with him. As a result of the covenant both the name of Abram and his wife were changed. Abram became Abraham and Sarai became Sarah. Possibly the change of the names was set to ratify God's promise to give Abraham plenty of descendants. The land they were already living in was their and their descendants' heritage. The sign of the covenant was men's circumcise. But the most important promise of the covenant concerned their coming son, Isaac.
Voiko Jumala tulla enää läheisemmäksi tai konkreettisemmaksi? Aabraham oli etuoikeutettu kutsumaan Jumalaa nimellä minun Jumalani!
Is it possible that God could come still closer or more concrete? Abraham was privileged and allowed to call God my God!
Niinpä esimerkiksi Gerarin kuningas Abimelek ja hänen sotapäällikkönsä Piikol paljastivat Aabrahamille oman näkemyksensä tämän Jumalasta: "Jumala on sinun kanssasi kaikessa, mitä teet" (1. Moos. 21: 22). Ajatelkaa, mikä todistus! Yleensä me yritämme todistella toisille, kuinka Jumala on meitä johdattanut, mutta olemmeko tulleet ajatelleeksi, ovatko kuulijamme millään tavalla vakuuttuneita siitä!
The friendship of God and Abraham was not any secret, for everybody dealing with Abraham knew about it. For example Abimelech, the king of Gerar, and Phichol, his chief captain, unveiled to Abraham what they thought about his God: "God is with thee in all that thou doest" (Gen. 21: 22). Think about what a confession! Generally we try to give our witness how God has led us, but have we ever thought about whether the audience is convinced!
Iisakin asuessa Beersebassa sama Kaikkivaltias esittäytyi hänelle sanoin: "Minä olen sinun isäsi Aabrahamin Jumala, älä pelkää, sillä minä olen sinun kanssasi" (1. Moos. 26: 24). Myös Jaakobille Kaikkivaltias esittäytyi Beersebassa sanoen: "Minä olen Jumala, sinun isäsi Jumala" (1. Moos. 46: 3).
When Isaac was dwelling in Beersheba the Almighty introduced himself and said: "I am the God of Abraham thy father: fear not, for I am with thee" (Gen. 26: 24). The Almighty appeared even to Jacob in Beersheba and said: "I am God, the God of thy father" (Gen. 46: 3). The same personal relationship with God continued with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
Moos. 26. 3) että Jaakobille (1. Moos. 31: 3). Siksi voin kirjoittaa: Kaikkivaltias = Ehjee!
In this context, I can't fail to mention that the word Ehyeh occurs in God's introduction both to Isaac (Gen. 26: 3) and to Jacob (Gen. 31: 3). Therefore I can write the Almighty = Ehyeh!
Moos. 48: 15, 16).
This kind of relationship with God is based on experience and it creates safety and confidence. Jacob/Israel said in his blessing to Ephraim and Manasseh in Egypt: "God, before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac did walk, the God which fed me all my life long unto this day... bless the lads" (Gen. 48: 15, 16).
Kun Kaikkivaltias ilmestyi Moosekselle Midianin erämaassa nimellä MinäOlen eli Ehjee, hän esittäytyi Aabrahamin, Iisakin ja Jaakobin Jumalana (2. Moos. 3: 15; Ap.t. 7: 32).
When the Almighty appeared to Moses in the wilderness by the name I AM or Ehyeh he introduced himself as the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob (Ex. 3: 15; Acts 7: 32).
Ensimmäisellä käynnillään faaraon edessä Mooses ja Aaron puhuivat hiukan etäisesti heprealaisten Jumalasta (2. Moos. 5: 3), mutta henkilökohtaisen kokemuksen karttuessa ja uskon vahvistuessa Mooseskin alkoi pian puhua Jumalasta tuttavallisemmin meidän Jumalamme (2. Moos. 8: 10).
When Moses and Aaron visited the pharaoh the first time they spoke a little impersonally about God using the expression the God of the Hebrews (Ex. 5: 3), but when Moses got more personal experiences of God and his faith was strengthened he began to speak familiarly of our God (Ex. 8: 10).
Moos. 15: 2).
When the Israelis were free from the Egyptians on the banks of the Red Sea they had a fresh experience of God's power and guidance, and we can read it in their song: "he is my God, and I will prepare him a habitation; my father's God, and I will exalt him" (Ex. 15: 2).
Jumala ei katso henkilöön eikä valikoi suojattejaan puolueellisin perustein, sillä hän sanoo jokaiselle: minä olen... sinun Jumalasi, joka vein sinut pois Egyptin maasta, orjuuden pesästä (2. Moos. Moos. 24: 9, 10).
God doesn't choose partially his proteges, for is saying to everyone: I am... thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt (Ex. 20: 2) = I am your God, which have brought you out from the world of sin and it's slavery. Everyone who responds to his love and call can belong to the spiritual Israel (Israel = the one who did fight with God - Gen. 32: 28) and see the God of Israel like Moses and Aaron, Nadab and Abihu and the seventy elders of Israel (Ex. 24: 9, 10).
The Almighty has been a personal God for many patriarchs and passed men and women, but he is not limited only with them. for Jesus said: "God is not the God of the dead, but of the living" (Matthew 22: 32). It means that every human being... everybody who lives... is allowed to get the same experience of the personal God... that God may be for everyone "my God".
Miten tuollaiseen kokemukseen voi päästä? Heprealaiskirjeestä löytyy vastaus: pyrkimällä parempaan... taivaallisiin (Hepr. 11: 16). Kaikkivaltias, El-Shaddai, Ehjee "on valmistanut heille kaupungin eikä häpeä kutsua itseään heidän Jumalaksensa."
How to get this kind of experience?
The author of the Hebrews gives the answer: by desiring the better country (Hebrews 11: 16). The Almighty, El-Shaddai, Ehyeh "hath prepared for them a city" and he "is not ashamed to be called their God."
Moos. 10: 16) eli hylkäämällä itsekkyytensä ja alistamalla oman tahtonsa Jumalan johdatukseen, mikä käytännössä kulminoituu oman syntisyytensä tunnustamiseen ja Jeesuksen hankkiman pelastuksen vastaanottamiseen. Liiton siunauksena jokainen saa uuden nimen, ja perintönä luvatun maan. Tämä kaikki on mahdollista meille syntyneen poikalapsen, Jeesuksen, ansiosta!
Any person is allowed to open the covenant with the God of Israel by circumcising his own heart (Deut. 10: 16) or by rejecting his selfishness and subjecting his will under God's guidance, which means in practice to confess one's sins and receive the salvation Jesus has given for us. As a blessing of the covenant everyone will get a new name and a heritage of the promised land. All these blessings are possible for us through Jesus, the son given to us.

Isältä Pojalle * From the Father to the Son
Heprealaiskirjeen kirjoittaja mainitsee kirjeensä alkupuolella, että Jeesus on niin paljon enkeleitä korkeampi kuin hänen PERIMÄNSÄ nimi on heidän nimiään jalompi (Hepr. 1: 4).
The author of the Hebrews writes that Jesus is as much higher to the angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent than the names of the angels (Hebrews 1: 4).
Saksalainen teologi Franz Delitzsch (1813 - 1890), joka on kääntänyt Uuden Testamentin hepreaksi seuraten Peshittan sanavalintoja, on käyttänyt kyseisessä jakeessa heprean verbiä נחל (nachal), joka merkitsee mm. pitää omanaan, ottaa omakseen, jakaa perintöosaksi, saada osakseen, periä.
A German theologian Franz Delitzsch (1813 - 1890) who has translated the New testament into Hebrew following Peshitta's diction has used in the this verse a Hebrew verb נחל (nachal) meaning own, have, get, inherit.
Mistä nimestä voisi olla kysymys?
What name it might be?
Jumalan nimi on pyhä, ja Jeesus opetti Isä meidän rukouksessa rukoilemaan "pyhitetty olkoon sinun nimesi". Matt. 6: 9:ssä oleva verbi on קדש (qadash), joka merkitsee yleisestä käytöstä eristämistä, Jumalan käyttöön omistamista.
God's name is holy and even Jesus taught to pray "hallowed be thy name". The Hebrew verb in Matthew 6: 9 is קדש (qadash) meaning to isolate from the general use, to limit to the use of God.
Mikä nimi on onnistuttu säilyttämään poissa yleisestä käytöstä, mutta kuitenkin omistamaan Jumalan käyttöön ja ilmoitukseen?
What is the name which has successfully been isolated from the general use but however limited to God's own use and information?
Sellaisia nimiä on vain yksi. Se löytyy 2. Moos. 3: 14:sta. Nimi on "MINÄ OLEN" eli hepreaksi אהיה Ehjee.
There is only one such name. It's informed in Gen. 3: 14. The name is "I AM" or in Hebrew אהיה Ehyeh.
The name occurs in the Old Testament about 40 times but in a way that very few readers have noticed it. The most significant publication of the name happened at Sinai in the burning bush before Moses.
Very wisely God has infiltrated his name among other text in the Old Testament so that nobody has ever made a mantra of it for the general use. It's the same thing with Jesus how he used Father's name. Every time he used that name is mentioned in John's gospel.
Joh./John 4: 26; 6: 20, 35, 48; 8: 12, 18, 24, 28, 58; 9: 5; 10: 9, 11, 14, 36; 11: 25; 14: 6; 15: 1; 18: 5, 6, 37
EHJEE... MINÄ OLEN!
The reason why this holy name has been inherited from the Father to the Son is that the Son defeated the Death and so he could say "I am the resurrection and the life". The
life of the Son is as everlasting as the life of the Father! EHYEH... I AM!

ABC * ABC
Alla olevassa taulukossa on kolmet heprean aakkoset (klikkaa kuva suuremmaksi). Ylimmällä rivillä näkyvät varhaisimmat seemiläiset kirjainmerkit, toisella rivillä paleo-heprean merkit ja kolmannella rivillä ns. neliöfontti, jolla hepreaa kirjoitetaan nykyään. Neljännellä rivillä on merkkien nimet ja viidennellä rivillä puolestaan merkkien ääntyminen/ääntämys.
In the table below there are three Hebrew Alphabets (make the picture bigger by a click). On the first row there are the earliest Semitic bookmarks, on the second row the paleo-Hebrew marks and on the third row the square font, which is used nowadays. On the fourth row you can see the names of the written characters and on the fifth row their transcriptions.
Ylimmällä rivillä vanhimpien seemiläisten aakkosten rivissä näkyy kaksi täysin samanlaista merkkiä... istuvaa ihmishahmoa. Nämä merkit näyttävät myöhemmin eriytyneen kahdeksi eri h-kirjaimeksi (He ja Het).
On the first row among the earliest Semitic Alphabet we can see two similar marks... sitting human figures. It seems that later these marks have diverged to He and Het. But if we take these two similar marks as one and same figure there have originally been only 21 Semitic writing characters.
I think this is a most interesting thing because the numeral value of the word אהיה (Ehyeh) is also 21. The words "I am the first and the last" (Rev. 1: 17) and "... the beginning and the end" (Rev. 21: 6; 22: 13) refer most obviously to the Hebrew Alphabet. All of them form like the whole "name" of God. Every word God has ever spoken have been consisted of these consonants.
Kuitenkin kaksi eri h-kirjainta on kasvattanut heprean aakkosten lukumäärän 22:een.
It would bee nice to know when and why these two h-conconants have been diverged. The process is well seen already in the paleo-Hebrew marks, but in the square font they look very similar again. However two h-consonants instead of one means 22 consonants all together.
Nykyisin heprean aakkosten lopussa on myös kaksi samannäköistä s-merkkiä; sin (piste vasemman sakaran päällä) ja shin (piste oikean sakaran päällä). Näin ollen heprean aakkosia on nykyisin 23 kappaletta. (taulukossa vain yksi ש- kirjain)
Nowadays in the end of the Hebrew Alphabet there are also two s-marks; sin (dot on the left horn) and shin (dot on the right horn). Therefore there are 23 Hebrew consonants nowadays. (only one ש in the table)
As we can see in the table above there are more than one s and t in Hebrew, too. Therefore no wonder with two h-consonats. But I have been wondering them and I have supposed that the name Eve has been derived from the verb "to become to something" (havah = הוה) not from the verb "to live" (chajah = חיה). The similarity of the verb "havah" and the name "Eve" can be seen in the table below.
Ellei Jumala olisi luonut Eevaa, ei olisi koko ihmiskuntaa, sillä yksinäinen Aadam ei olisi saanut jälkeläisiä aikaan. Eevan luominen ja ihmisparin syntiinlankeemus (Eeva + Adam) johti "viimeisen Adamin", Jeesuksen, kärsimyksiin ja uhriin. Ne huipentuivat hänen riippuessa ristillä naulojen varassa. Eevan nimi varhaisimmilla seemiläisillä aakkosilla kirjoitettuna on vaikuttava näky; kaksi naulaa kahden ihmishahmon välissä.
If God hadn't created Eve, there would be no mankind, for Adam alone were not able to get offsprings. But the creation of Eve and the Fall of the human couple (Eve + Adam) led to the sufferings and the sacrifice of the "last Adam" Jesus. They culminated when he was hanging from the nails on the cross. Eve's name written in the earliest Semitic Alphabet looks impressive; two nails between two human images.

Konsonantit kuvina * Consonants as pictures
Jumalan Moosekselle ilmoittama nimi EHJEE kirjoitetaan heprean neliöfontilla näin
Ehyeh, the name God informed to Moses, is written in the Hebrew square font like this
ja paleoheprean fontilla näin
and in the paleo-Hebrew font like this
Kirjaimet/konsonantit ovat Alef - He - Jod - He
The letters/consonants are Alef - He - Yod - He
As we know the first textual information was made with pictures and the letters have become reduced from the pictures during centuries. Even the Hebrew consonants can be seen as pictures.
Alef = härkä/esikoinen/ensimmäinen/johtaja/voima,
He = ikkuna/aita/aitaus/verbinä katsoa/paljastaa
Jod = käsi/teko/verbinä tehdä jotakin.
Alef = ox/bull/firstborn/first/leader/power,
He = window/fence/fencing/as a verb look at/watch on/reveal
Yod = hand/act/deed/as a verb to do something
Sana אהיה (Ehjee) voidaan lukea:
härkä - katso - käsi - katso
Sana אהיה merkitsee siis:
Katso kättä, joka antaa uhrihärän/esikoisen.
Thus the name אהיה (Ehyeh) can be read:
bull - look - hand - look
Thus the word אהיה means:
Look at the hand that gives an ox/bull (sacrifice)/the firstborn.
Tetragrammi kirjoitetaan heprean neliöfontilla näin
The Tetragrammaton is written in the Hebrew square font like this
ja paleoheprean fontilla näin
and in the paleo-Hebrew font like this
Kirjaimet/konsonantit ovat Jod - He - Waw - He
The letters/consonants are Yod - He - Waw - He
Tetragrammissa kolmantena konsonanttina on
Waw, joka merkitsee: naula/koukku/verbinä naulata/naulita/liittää.
Muiden konsonantiien merkitys selviää edellisen sanan yhteydestä (Jod = käsi ja He = ikkuna/katsoa).
The third consonant in the Tetragrammaton is
Waw, and it means nail/hook/as a verb to nail, to connect. The meaning of the other consonants are expressed before (Yod = hand, He = window/look at).
Tetragrammi יהוה voidaan lukea:
käsi - katso - naula - katso
Tetragrammi merkitsee siis:
Katso kättä, joka naulitsee/Katso naulittua kättä
The Tetragrammaton can be read
hand - look - nail - look
Thus the Tetragrammaton means:
Look at the hand that nails/ Look at the nailed hand.
Alef-konsonantin (ensimmäinen kirjain sanassa Ehjee) alkuperäinen muoto on häränpää. Moos. 24: 5). Härkien veri "pyhitti lihanpuhtauteen" (Hepr. 9: 13), mutta se ei voinut poistaa syntejä (Hepr. 10: 4). Vain Jeesuksen veri voi puhdistaa synnistä (Jes. 1: 18). Härkä oli symboli Jeesuksen antamasta uhrista.
The original form of the consonant Alef (the first one in the word Ehyeh) is ox-head/bull-head. Ox was a pure sacrifice animal in the temple service, and perhaps bull was the animal God sacrificed when he clothed (כתנת = a cloth with long sleeves reaching down to ankles... not any breechcloth) Adam and Eve after the Fall (Gen. 3: 21). Bulls were sacrificed when God made the covenant with the Israel by the mount Sinai (Ex. 24: 5). The blood of bulls "sanctified to the purifying of the flesh" (Hebr. 9: 13), but it could not "take away sins" (Hebr. 10: 4). Only the blood of Jesus can make us pure from sins (Isa. 1: 18). Ox/bull is a symbol of the sacrifice of Jesus.

Publikaanin osa * Publican's part
The word "publican" has not opened up to me earlier, but the corresponding Hebrew word מוכם (mokem) brings new understanding. The root letters of this word are מןך and as a verb it means "become poorer."
Usually the publicans were government officials... tax collectors. In Finland It's said that the bread of state is long and narrow meaning that the pay is not great but the workplace is guaranteed. Perhaps it's the same thing everywhere. Maybe the small salary and a good opportunity tempted publicans to mix their own and the state purse and to try to benefit from the tariff. I don't know how many publicans required too high payment but even one person could spoil the fame of the whole craft. According to the Bible stories we know that the publicans were despised and hated.
People wondered how Jesus could eat and drink with the sinners and the publicans. But Jesus didn't shied away from them but mainly socialised with them.
Heprean sana מוכם esiintyy mm. 3. Jeesus on meidän sukupulastajamme/lunastajamme... parakletos. Syntiinlankeemus on köyhdyttänyt ihmiskunnan niin, ettei meillä itsellämme ole mitään mahdollisuutta osallistua kuninkaallisesta juhlasta taivaan saleissa. Ilman Jeesuksen väliintuloa ja hänen meille hankkimaa juhlapukua kulkisimme omissa rääsyissämme. Mutta Jeesukselta voimme saada lahjaksi "valkoisen liinavaatteen" (Ilm. 19: 8), joka peittää syntisyytemme/köyhyytemme Isän edessä.
The Hebrew word מוכם appears in Lev. 25: 25 where it's told about getting poor so badly that a kin is needed to redeem a poor man. Jewish social welfare like this gives us even a good spiritual example. Jesus is our kin/Redeemer that redeems us... he is our parakletos. The Fall made the mankind so poor that we don't have any possibility to attend the royal feast in the heavenly hall. We'll walk in our own rag without Jesus and the white dress he has made for us. But we can get "fine linen" (Rev. 19: 8) from Jesus as a present, and it covers our wickedness/poverty before the Father.
When Jesus told about a Pharisee and a publican (Luke 18: 10 - 14), he preferred the prayer of a meek publican to the boast of the self-satisfied Pharisee. The publican confessed by his prayer his wickedness, helplessness and need of help but the Pharisee didn't like to confess. The publican chose a part of those who are poor in spirit (Matthew 5: 3), and it pleased Jesus. Jesus is the wealth and the most expensive treasure for those who are poor in spirit.

Väärät synttärit * A wrong birthday party
Jos kuvittelemme, että enkelit näin joulun aikaan muistelevat vierailuaan Beetlehemin kedolla ja juhlivat taivaan saleissa Messiaan syntymäpäivää yhtyen näin kristikunnan suurimpaan vuotuiseen kirkolliseen juhlaan, taidamme hiukan erehtyä. Kuvitelmat lienee syytä pitää erillään tosiasioista.
If we imagine that angels in heaven in our Christmas time are looking back and recalling their visit in Bethlehem and having a birthday party of Messiah and thus uniting to the greatest Christian feast, we make a mistake. Imaginations are not facts.
I think we have been reading a lot of the pagan roots of Christmas but only some single persons take advantage and change their habits/customs. Actually the Christmas tree and many other common Christmas customs have been creeping there where they were earlier opposed.
We are social creatures and we want to be part of the group we are living in/with. Generally it's very boring to be a party pooper/spoilsport. But how to live the last days of a year without disturbing those who want to enjoy their Christmas party or those who want to give away every single pagan habit!
Ehkä on kuitenkin parasta antaa Jumalan toimia tuomarina.
However it may be better to let God be the judge. Definitely we don't know every single detail of other's inner thoughts and feelings.
The issue I want to write about now pertains to the birthday of Jesus. During this year I got to know that both the Jewish and Persian sources have knowledge concerning that day.
Naturally we wait such knowledge from the Jewish sources, but how is it possible that even Persian (sounds pagan ?) sources have such secrets!
Selitys löytynee juutalaisten pakkosiirtolaisuudesta. Juutalaiset veivät pakkosiirtolaisuuteen mukanaan oman uskontonsa ja siihen liittyvät messiaaniset ennustukset. "Idän viisaat" taisivat osata tulkita juutalaisten kirjoituksia varsin hyvin. Onhan siitä jäänyt todistus Matteuksen evankeliumiinkin (Matt. 2: 1 - 12).
Maybe the explanation is the Jewish exile. The Jews brought their own religion and prophecies to the east and the eastern "wise men" were very skilful to understand them as we can in read in Matthew 2: 1 - 12.
Cultures and human habits are mixed and spread from a nation to another no matter do we wish it or not. If the Jews gave something to the eastern men they did even take or get something back. You see some manes of the Jewish months have been changed after the exile. The seventh Jewish month is called Ethanim in the Old Testament (1 Kings 8: 2), but nowadays it's called Tishri, probably derived from the Babylonian Tashiritu.
Eetamin/Tishri on seitsemäs kuukausi juutalaisessa uskonnollisessa vuodessa, mutta se on ensimmäinen kuukausi heidän siviilivuodessaan. Tishrin 1. päivä on Rosh ha-Shana eli uudenvuodenpäivä. Tishri-kuu aloittaa juutalaisten syksyn juhlat, joista ensimmäinen on Suuri sovituspäivä, Jom Kippur, Tishrin 10. päivänä.
Ethanim/Tishri is the seventh month of a Jewish religion year but it's the first month in the Jewish civil year. The first day of Tishri is called Rosh ha-Shanah or the New Year's Day. The Jewish autumnal feasts begin from Tishri and the first one is the Atonement Day, Jom Kippur, the 10th of Tishri.
Jeshua, maailman suuri Vapahtaja/Sovittaja (Luuk. 2: 11) syntyi juuri Suuren Sovituspäivän edellä, mikä mielestäni sopii vallan mainiosti hänen tehtäväkuvaansa!
According to the Jewish and Persian sources Jesus was born in the first of Tishri. In this year it was the 13th of September in our calendar. Yeshuah, the great Saviour (Luke 2: 11) was born just before the Atonement Day, and I think that it fits well to his task/mission.
Moos. 16: 1 - 34) ennustamaa Saatanan lopullista häviötä ja hänen saamaansa oikeudenmukaista tuomiota kapinan aloittajana ja syntiinlankeemuksen tuottajana.
Due to the success of Jesus' mission even the day of his death and the day of his resurrection are important days. But his birth in Bethlehem ratified concretely that Satan shall finally get lost and he'll get a righteous judgement as the starter of rebellion and as the beginner of sin and fall to which the Atonement Day (Lev. 16: 1 - 34) prophetically refers.

Suojamerkistä nimeksi * A protective mark becames the name
Israelissa syntynyt ja Helsingin yliopistosta maisteriksi valmistunut Daniel Brecher kirjoittaa kirjassaan Juutalaisin silmin (1- 6) sivuilla 23, 24 siitä, miten Jumala asetti veljesmurhaan syyllistyneen Kainin ylle suojaavan merkin. Brecher siteeraa klassisia rabbiinisia kertomuksia sisältävää Midrash Rabbaa näin:
"Midrash Rabba kertoo, että Jumala asetti yhden kirjaimen suuresta ja kallista Nimestään Kainin päälle."
Daniel Brecher who was born in Israel and graduated with a master's degree in Helsinki University writes in his book about Cain and the protective mark God set upon him and cites Midrash Rabbah: Madras Rabbah tells that God set one letter/character of his great and lovely Name upon Cain.
Samassa yhteydessä Brecher viittaa Hesekielin 9. luvussa kerrottuun vanhurskaiden merkitsemiseen suojaavalla sinetillä ja kirjoittaa: "Tässäkin tapauksessa Jumalan sinetti toimi lunastavana suojelumerkkinä."
Brecher refers also to the 9th chapter of Ezekiel and the mark on foreheads of the righteous and writes: Even in this case God's seal was a splendid protective mark.
Brecher says that the protective mark or the certain letter of God's Name is the last consonant in the Hebrew alphabet, Taw. Taw in the modern Hebrew alphabet (since 450 B.C.) looks like this: ת, but Taw in the old Paleo-Hebrew alphabet looks like a cross (x) or (+) depending on it's position.
Brecher tells also about the first Pesach/Passover and the mark that saved the Israelis from the Angel of Death during that awful night. Brecher writes: The mark that figures on a door is the last character of the Paleo-Hebrew alphabet called Taw and of a shape of a cross. Cross was God's Name marked with blood on the doors of Israel.
Ajatuksia Brecherin tekstin johdosta:
* Asettiko Jumala Kainin ylle kirjaimen (x) vai merkin (+)?
* Kaksi viivaa ristikkäin on mielestäni yksinkertaisin Liiton merkki
* Mieleeni nousevat Justinoksen (100/114 - 162/168) sanat: "Kukaan ei kykene antamaan nimeä sanoin ilmaisemattomalle Jumalalle; jos joku julkenisikin väittää sellaisen olevan olemassa, hän osoittaisi olevansa parantumaton hullu." (Matti Myllykoski: Justinos Marttyyri, sivu 95)
Thinking about Brecher's text:
* Taw (x) means the consonant T. If Taw is one letter in God's name, what might be his whole name? It must contain at least one T.
* Because this mark (x) was a supernatural shelter against death, it must have an immense significance for Israelis. Is it why they began to call it ha-Shem = the Name?
* Did the four horns of the Taw-cross begin to live their own life sometimes in human minds? Were the four consonants of the Tetragrammaton (יהוה) set upon them in order to get a better name?
* Does God have any name he has introduced for us? If he has, should it contain every letter of the alphabet, because everything comes from/through him?
* Was it a consonant (x) or a mark (+) that God set upon Cain?
* A mark (+) refers to the cross, the place of salvation, and the consonant (x) refers to the end... end of the power of sin. God is the Beginning of all and the is he End of sin.
* I think that two crossed lines means simply a mark of a covenant.
* The words of Justinos (100/114 - 162/168), the martyr, come to my mind: No-one is able to give a name to God whom we can't express by words; but if someone dared to claim that such a name exists, he proves to be an irremediable crazy person.
