Valmistaudu kohtaamaan Jumalaasi * Prepare to meet your God

Aamoksen nimi עמוס merkitsee taakankantajaa/kuormitettua/vaivattua heprean amas-verbin (עמס) mukaan, joka tarkoittaa kuormata/lastata/kantaa/nostaa irti maasta.

Amos, who lived in Tekoa and took care of his sheep there, acted as a prophet around 760-750 BC. At that time, the king of Israel was Jeroboam II (793 - 753), and the king of Judah was Uzziah (790 - 739). Amos' name עמוס means burden bearer/burdened/troubled according to the Hebrew verb amas (עמס) which means to load/carry/lift off the ground.

Vuonna 722 ekr. Assurin kuningas Salmaneser/Salmanasser V saartoi Samarian, ja kolme vuotta myöhemmin Assurin joukot valtasivat kaupungin ja pakkosiirsivät Israelin kansan eri puolille Assurin maata.

Amos's burden was spiritual, for he had to wake up the nation of Israel living without sorrow to watch and prepare for the blow that was about to hit them. In 722 BC The Assyrian king Shalmaneser/Salmanasser V laid siege to Samaria, and three years later the Assyrian forces captured the city and forcibly relocated the people of Israel to different parts of the land of Assyria.

Juudan kansa säästyi vielä tuossa vaiheessa Israelin kohtalolta. Juudan kuninkaana oli oikeamieliseksi mainittu Hiskia. Mutta 200 vuotta myöhemmin (586 eKr.) Juuda koki saman raskaan kohtalon, kun Babylonin kuningas Nebukadnessar valloitti Jerusalemin.

The people of Judah were still spared the fate of Israel at that stage. The king of Judah was Hezekiah named righteous. But 200 years later (586 BC) Judah met the same dire fate when Jerusalem was conquered by Nebuchadnezzar, King of Babylon.

Aamoksen kirjan viesti voidaan tiivistää 4. luvun 12. jakeen sanoihin ”Valmistaudu kohtaamaan Jumalasi, Israel”.

The message of the book of Amos can be summed up in the words of chapter 4, verse 12, ”prepare to meet thy God, O Israel".

Jumala salli luonnonvoimien tehostaa Aamoksen parannussaarnoja. Vuonna 760 eKr. on tapahtunut mittava maanjäristys, joka tunnetaan ”Ussian maanjäristyksen” nimellä. Arkelogisia todisteita tuosta mullistuksesta on tehty eri puolilla maata; viimeisimmäksi Jerusalemin Daavidin kaupungissa.

God allowed the forces of nature to enhance Amos' preaching of repentance. In 760 BC, a large earthquake occurred, known as the "Uzziah earthquake". Archaeological evidence of that upheaval has been made across the country; most recently in the City of David in Jerusalem. The earthquake is indicated by the walls of the houses falling in different directions (inwards and outwards) and the fact that no ashes have been found on the same ground level, which would be a sign of war and destruction.

Menivätkö profeetta Aamoksen saarnat kuitenkin kuuroille korville, kun molemmat kansat, Israel ja Juuda, joutuivat pakkosiirtolaisuuteen vieraaseen maahan, ja heidän omat maansa joutuivat täydellisen hävityksen kohteeksi?

However, did the preaching of the prophet Amos fall on deaf ears when both nations, Israel and Judah, were forced into exile in a foreign land, and their own lands were subjected to total destruction?

Mitä Aamoksen sanat jakeessa 4: 12 pitävät sisällään -  hepraksi:

What does Amos’s words in verse 4: 12 contain - in Hebrew:

Amos urged the people to prepare to meet their God, but what does it mean?

Ihmiskunnalle ajan antanut Jumala astuu pian kaikessa loistossaan kansoja tuomitsemaan. Olemmeko me valmiit kohtaamaan Jumalan? Mitä Tekoan lammaspaimenen sanat merkitsevät meille?

The world would need Amos even today, because the final destruction awaits the whole world and its every inhabitant. The Last Day of the World is coming inexorably! The God who gave time to mankind will soon appear in all his glory to judge the nations. Are we ready to face God? What do Tekoa's shepherd's words mean to us?

Mitä saamme irti noista neljästä heprean sanasta

What we can get out of those four Hebrew words

☞ הכון merkitsee VALMIINA, sanakirjassa viitataan verbiin כון, joka tarkoittaa johonkin suuntaan KÄÄNTYMISTÄ / OIKAISTUKSI TULEMISTA / TARKALLEEN SOVITETUKSI TULEMISTA

☞ הכון means READY, the dictionary refers to the verb כון, which means TURNING in a certain direction / BECOME CORRECTED / BECOME EXACTLY ADJUSTED

☞ לקראת, tämän sanan juurikirjaimet nostavat esiin verbin קרא, jolla on kaksi erilaista merkitystä.

( I ) קרא - verbi käännetään monilla eri sanoilla, jotka merkitsevät jonkun huomion herättämistä. Esimerkiksi: קרא בשם אלהים (qara be-shem elohim), RUKOILLA JUMALAN NIMESSÄ

( II ) קרא - verbin toinen merkitys on TAVATA / KOHDATA / TULLA VASTAAN

Aam. 4: 12:n sanat לקראת אלהיך (liqrat eloheka) merkitsevät KOHTAA JUMALASI / MENE tai TULE JUMALAASI VASTAAN

Vanhin suom. käännös kuuluukin: ”Valmista sinuas, Israel, ja mene Jumalaas vastaan.”

☞ לקראת, the root letters of this word bring up the verb קרא, which has two different meanings.

( I ) The verb קרא is translated by many different words that mean to attract someone's attention. For example: קרא בשמ אלהים (qara be-shem elohim), PRAYING IN THE NAME OF GOD

( II ) Another meaning of the verb קרא is TO MEET / ENCOUNTER / COME AGAINST

The words  לקראת אלהיך (liqrat eloheka) in Amos 4: 12 mean FACING YOUR GOD / GO or COME AGAINST YOUR GOD

The oldest Finnish translation reads: Prepare yourself, Israel, and go to meet God.

☞ אלהיך (eloheka = your God), the basic form of this word is plural אלהים (elohim), which means both the only God (the Almighty) and many gods.

Amos therefore calls to turn to the only true God and to leave behind all other deities, i.e. things that have in one way or another gone before, in front of, or in the way of true God.

Israel, this is the name that Jacob received at the Jabbok stream (Gen. 32: 29). According to the explanation in the margin of the Bible, the name Israel means: "God struggles" or "God rules”.

There is no ambiguity about the latter part of the word, as אל (el) means ’God/jod'. The beginning of the word ישר (jasar/jashar) has three consonants, and whether the middle consonant is Sin (jasar) or Shin (jashar), it is written in a vowelless text without a significant dot above the consonant, so you should also check the option 'jashar' in the dictionary and not just 'jasar’ .

'Jashar' gives more logical explanation to the names of Isaac's second son (Jacob and Israel). The name Jacob יעקב is based on the Hebrew word  עקב, which means both 'heel' and 'deceitful/cunning'. The name Jacob יעקב can be translated as 'he deceives'. All these meanings fit the life of Jacob, for when he was born he clung to the heel of his brother Esau, and he obtained from his father by cunning and deceit the blessing due to Esau, and he practiced questionable and dishonest activities while still with Laban.

But at Jabbok, the treacherous Jacob encountered a 'straightforward' and 'righteous' God. The new name he received from God, Israel ישראל, means straight/upright God, because the verb ישר (jashar) means 'to be straight / to be upright / to walk straight'.

Nykyajan jaakobit:

Modern-day jacobs:

The treachery of the heart was not the only weakness of Jacob and his descendants (the nations of Israel and Judah). The prophet Jeremiah writes Jer. In 17: 9: “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?” So in the heart of every person is a deceitful jacob.

Jeremiah also asks (Jer. 13: 23): ”Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? then may ye also do good, that are accustomed to do evil."

Ihmisen seisoessa ja kävellessä kantapää painuu alimmaksi mutaan ja liejuun. Jokainen ihminen tarvitsee ’Amosta', joka nostaa hänet irti maasta. Kaikkina aikoina jokainen ihminen on kutsuttu kohtaamaan suora ja oikeamielinen Jumala ja Hänen Poikansa, Jeshua, joka vetää kaikki Jumalan tykö (Joh. 12: 32).

When a person stands and walks, the heel sinks to the bottom in the mud. Every person needs ’Amos' to lift them off the ground. In all times, every person is called to face the upright and righteous God and His Son, Yeshua, who draws all to God (John 12: 32).

Profeetta Jesaja on välittänyt Jumalalta kehoituksen, joka kuuluu seuraavasti: ”Peseytykää puhdistautukaa; pankaa pois pahat tekonne minun silmieni edestä, lakatkaa pahaa tekemästä.

The prophet Isaiah has conveyed an exhortation from God, which reads as follows: ”Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil; Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow. Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimsom, they shall be as wool. If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land” (Isa. 1: 16 - 19).

Amos does not mean by the word 'prepare' (4: 12) the completion of one's own, as if passing an exam or completing a course and getting a diploma, but coming against God and opening one's inner self to be cleansed by Him.

Ennen maailman Viimeistä Päivää, Jumalan kansalla on oleva vaikea aika, jota kutsutaan ’Jaakobin ahdistukseksi’. Siitä kirjoittavat sekä Jesaja että Jeremia.

Before the Last Day of the world, God's people will have a difficult time called 'Jacob's trouble'. Both Isaiah and Jeremiah write about it.

Me olimme raskaina, vääntelehdimme, mutta oli niinkuin olisimme synnyttäneet tuulta: emme saaneet aikaan pelastusta (חשועת jeshuot vrt.

”Like as a woman with child, that draweth near the time of her delivery, is in pain, and crieth out in her pangs; so have we been in thy sight, O Lord. We have been with child, we have been in pain, we have as it were brought forth wind; we have not wrought any deliverance (חשועת yeshuot compare Yeshua) in the earth; neither have the inhabitants of the world fallen. Thy dead men shall live, together with my dead body shall they arise. Awake and sing, ye that dwell in dust: for thy dew is as the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead. Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast. For, behold, the Lord commeth out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: the earth also shall disclose her blood, and shall no more cover her slain” (Isa. 26: 17 - 21).

”Näin sanoo Herra: ’ Pelon huudon me kuulemme: on hirmu, ei rauha!

”For thus saith the Lord; We have heard a voice of trembling, of fear, and not of peace. Ask ye now, and see whether a man doth travail with child? wherefore do I see every man with his hands on his loins, as a woman in travail, and all faces are turned into paleness? Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob’s trouble; but he shall be saved out of it” (Jer. 30: 5 - 7).

Viimeisistä viimeisin * The latest of the last

The world is currently in such a chaotic state that even people who do not appreciate Bible prophecies and do not believe in God have started talking about the end... the end of the world and life. Just following the events of one's time and logical thinking is enough for such a conclusion.

Uudessa Testamentissa on useita jakeita, joissa puhutaan lopun ajasta ja viimeisistä päivistä, mutta Vanhan Testamentin puolella ”lopun aika” mainitaan ainoastaan Danielin kirjassa; 8. luvun jakeissa 17 ja 19. Lisäksi kirjan lopussa (12: 13) Danielia kehoitetaan lepäämään (haudassa) ja nousemaan sitten pelastetun osaan päivien/aikojen lopussa... hepreaksi yksinkertaisesti לקץ LOPUSSA.

There are several verses in the New Testament that talk about the time of the end and the last days, but in the Old Testament, the "time of the end" is only mentioned in the book of Daniel; in chapter 8 verses 17 and 19. Also, at the end of the book (12: 13) Daniel is told to rest (in the grave) and then rise to the saved part at the end of days/times... in Hebrew simply לקץ AT THE END.

📖 Dan. 8: 17 hepreassa: כי לעת קץ  = sillä lopun aikaa (tämä tarkoittaa)

📖 Dan. 8: 17/in Hebrew: כי לעת קץ = because (this means) of the end times

📖 Dan. 8: 19/hepreassa: באחרית הזעם = vihanajan/raivon lopussa

כי למועד קץ = (sillä näky koskee) sovittua/määrättyä loppua

                               מועד = kohtaamis- kokoontumispaikka, kokoontuminen/kokous, sovittu/määrätty aika

                               קץ = loppu

📖 Dan. 8: 19/in Hebrew: באקריט הזעם = at the end of the wrath/fury

כי למועד קץ = (for the vision concerns) the agreed/ordained end

                                מועד = meeting place, gathering/meeting, agreed/determined time

                                קץ = the end

                                               lopun aika

                               περας  = raja/ääri, loppu/päätös

The Septuagint has both in Dan. 8:17 and 8:19 the Greek words καιρον περας = appointed end

καιρον = appointed/certain time, certain moment, deadline, predetermined time,

                               end time

                               περας = limit/extremity, end/decision

Based on the book of Daniel, we can therefore conclude that God has set a certain duration for time, and that time will end once. So we are living at the end of time and we can expect the so-called "the last day".

Uuden Testamentin tekstejä ajan lopusta:

New Testament texts about the end of time:

📖 Hepr.

Maailman aikojen loppupuoli alkoi siis Jeshuan ihmiseksi tulemisesta.

📖 Hebrews 1: 1, 2/KJV: ”God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds."

So the end of the world's times began with Jeshua's becoming a man.

📖 1. Piet.

📖 1. Peter 1: 20/KJV: ”Who (Christ) verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you."

He saavat tekojensa mukaisen palkan.”

📖 1. John 2: 18/KJV: ”Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now there are many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.”

There have already been several Antichrists in the last days of the world, but the actual False Christ/Anti-Christ, i.e. Satan himself, is yet to come!

📖 2. Cor. 11: 13 - 15/KJV: ”For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no greta thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works."

📖 2. Piet.

📖 2. Peter 3: 3, 4/KJV: ”Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation."

📖 Jaak.

📖 James 5: 1 - 3/KJV: ”Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you. Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days."

Kirjeessä Timoteukselle Paavali luetteli ihmisten ominaispiirteitä lopun aikoina/viimeisinä päivinä:

In his letter to Timothy, Paul listed the characteristics of people in the end times/last days:

Yeshua spoke about the Last Day and what will happen then:

📖 John 6: 39/KJV: ”And this is the Father’s will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day."

📖 John 6: 40/KJV: ”And this is the will of him that sent me , that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day."

📖 Joh. 6: 44/1938: ”Ei kukaan voi tulla minun tyköni, ellei Isä, joka on minut lähettänyt, vedä häntä; ja minä herätän hänet viimeisenä päivänä.”

📖 John 6: 44/KJV: No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day."

📖 Joh. 6: 54/1938: ”Joka syö minun lihani ja juo minun vereni, sillä on iankaikkinen elämä, ja minä herätän hänet viimeisenä päivänä.”

📖 John 6: 54/KJV: ”Whoso eatteth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.”

On the last day, Yeshua will resurrect everyone who has believed in Him. Death is not the end of life, because resurrection is the beginning of a new life. Martha, Lazarus' sister, also believed in the resurrection at the last day (John 11: 24).

But judgment is also associated with the last day, for it is the day of judgment for those who do not believe in Yeshua and His word. The resurrection will happen to everyone, for there will be two resurrections; the resurrection of life and the resurrection of judgment (John 5: 28, 29).

📖 Joh. 12: 48/1938: ”Joka katsoo minut ylen eikä ota vastaan minun sanojani, hänellä on tuomitsijansa: se sana, jonka minä olen puhunut, se on tuomitseva hänet viimeisenä päivänä.”

📖 John 12: 48/KJV: ”He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day."

Yeshua, the Son of God, who was foreknown even before the creation of the world, is the FIRST. But He is also the LAST, and therefore He is worthy to reveal what is written in the books of heaven about the history of mankind and the life of each person. When the time ends, it's the moment of reckoning and judgment.

📖 Rev. 1: 17/KJV: ”And when I saw him, I (John) fell at his feet as dead. And he (Yeshua)laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last."

Viimeisistä viimeisin, Jumalan Poika, on ensimmäisistä ensimmäinen, ja Uuden elämän Alku. Elämä jatkuu Hänessä ja Hänen kauttaan tämän kaoottisen ajan loputtua! Se on Riemullista ja Voittamatonta!

The last of the last, the Son of God, is the first of the first, and the Beginning of the New Life. Life will continue in Him and through Him after this chaotic time is over! It's Joyful and Invincible!

Yksin uskosta * By faith alone

When someone leaves behind a religious community, it can be imagined that he/she renounced his/her own faith. However, this is not the case, I know that from my own experience. In fact, the exact opposite can happen, because personal faith and relationship with God can grow better when there are no longer human authorities between God and one's own faith.

No religion guarantees individual faith. Genuine faith and a personal relationship with God leads out of different customs, habbits and ways of worshiping, which can sometimes even develop into a substitute for saving faith.

Uskontojen ja erilaisten ismien määrä maailmassa on valtava. Jokainen ihminen maan päällä voidaan luokitella johonkin kuppikuntaan, varsinkin kun uskonnoiksi luetaan myös sellaiset aatesuunnat, joissa ei tunnusteta Jumalan laatimaa pelastussuunnitelmaa Pojassaan Jeshuassa.

The number of religions and different isms in the world is enormous. Every person on earth can be classified into one of the sects, especially when religions also include those schools of thought that do not recognize God's plan of salvation in his Son Yeshua.

Religion is defined in the following way: Religion means FAITH and the associated EXPERIENCE OF HOLYNESS, which has been shaped into a DOCTRINE SYSTEM and manifests itself in various community CUSTOMS and WAYS of WORSHIP.

When doctrines, customs and worship are removed from that definition, what remains is faith and the experience of holiness. But both of these are obvious elements also in the so-called In Stendhal syndrome, which is ecstasy at art. However, all art is always human-oriented, and such thing cannot replace the sacred experience of God, who has created our world and the entire universe. Therefore, not even the experience of holiness is a completely reliable signpost to the Father. So what remains is the most important thing: FAITH, which cannot be any religion.

There is only one text in the Old Testament that can be found with the search term 'faith', and that is Habakkuk 2:4:

KJV: ”Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.”

Hebrea/Hebrew: הנב עבלב לא ישרב נפשו בו וצדיק באמונתו יהיה katso, hän on sielussaan pöyhkeä, ei suora, mutta vanhurskas on (suom. elää) uskostaan... behold, he is proud in his soul, not upright, but the righteous is (transalted lives in Finnish) by faith

Kreikka (LXX) jakeen loppuosan käännös: Mutta vanhurskas elää minun uskollisuudestani.

Greek (LXX) translation of the rest of the verse: "But the righteous shall live by my faithfulness."

There are hundreds of texts about faith and believing in the New Testament, and among them there are also three quotations from the aforementioned text of Habakkuk: Rom. 1:17; Gal. 3:11 and Heb. 10:38.

Heprealaiskirjeen 11. luvussa, ns."uskon luvussa”, usko määritellään seuraavin sanoin: ”Usko on luja luottamus siihen, mitä toivotaan, ojentautuminen sen mukaan, mikä ei näy”. Vuoden 2012 käännöksessä ’ojentautuminen’ on korvattu sanalla varmuus.

In the 11th chapter of Hebrews, the so-called "faith chapter", faith is defined with the following words: Faith is a firm confidence in what is hoped for, reaching out for what is not seen. In the Finnish translation 2012, 'stretching' has been replaced by the word certainty. So faith includes certainty, even if the object or goal of faith is not visible.

Evankeliumeissa voimme lukea siitä, miten Jeshua ihmetteli opetuslasten uskon vähyyttä (Mark. 4: 40; Luuk. 8: 25) ja nosti roomalaisen sadanpäämiehen uskon (Matt. 8: 19; Luuk. 7: 9) ja kanaanilaisen vaimon uskon (Matt. 15: 28) esimerkiksi opetuslapsille ja jokaiselle israelilaiselle.

In the Gospels we can read about how Yeshua marveled at the lack of faith of the disciples (Mark 4: 40; Luke 8: 25) and raised the faith of the Roman centurion (Matthew 8: 19; Luke 7: 9) and the faith of the Canaanite woman (Matthew 15 : 28) for example to the disciples and to every Israelite.

Usko on yksilöllinen asia. Se nähdään jokaisessa parantamistapauksessa, joista meille on kerrottu: mm. verenvuodosta parantunut nainen (Matt. 9: 22) ja halvaantunut mies (Matt. 9: 2). Jeshua toisti sanoja ”tapahtukoon sinulle uskosi mukaan.”

Faith is an individual matter. It is seen in every case of healing that we have been told about: e.g. the woman healed of bleeding (Matthew 9: 22) and the paralyzed man (Matthew 9: 2). Yeshua repeated the words "may it be done to you according to your faith."

Jeshua vertasi uskon määrää sinapinsiemeneen (Matt. 17: 20; Luuk.

Yeshua compared the amount of faith to a mustard seed (Matthew 17: 20; Luke 17: 6), which is quite a small seed. But with that amount, mountains could be moved, that is, great and wonderful deeds could be done.

Jeshuan sanojen mukaan maailman lopussa uskon määrä näyttää käyvän entistäkin vähäisemmäksi, sillä Hän lausui ”... kun Ihmisen Poika tulee, löytäneekö hän uskoa maan päältä” (Luuk. 18: 8).

According to Yeshua's words, at the end of the world, the amount of faith seems to become even less, because He said, "...when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth" (Luk. 18: 8).

Maailman katastrofaalisesta tilasta päätellen elämme nyt aivan Ihmisen Pojan paluun edellä. Yhtykäämme koko sydämestämme pyytämään apostolien tavoin: ”lisää meille uskoa” (Luuk. 17: 5).

Judging by the catastrophic state of the world, we are now living right before the return of the Son of Man. Let us join with all our hearts in asking like the apostles: "increase our faith" (Luke 17: 5).

Uskon siemen on Jumalan Sanassa (Room. Elämä on taattu meille uskon kautta Jumalan Pojan, Messias Jeshuan, nimeen (Joh. 20: 31).

The seed of faith is in the Word of God (Rom. 10: 17), which is Yeshua (John 1: 1-3, 14), and He alone can nurture and grow our weak and shaky faith. Life is guaranteed to us through faith in the name of the Son of God, Messiah Yeshua (John 20: 31).

Hebrews 11, verse 6 summarizes the essence of faith and its necessity: "But without faith it is impossible to be acceptable (according to God's mind), for whoever comes to God must believe that GOD IS and HE REWARDS those who seek him .”

Uskon keskiössä on siis JUMALA, joka ON. Jälleen kerran päädymme palavasta pensaasta Moosekselle  ilmoitettuun nimeen אהיה EHJEE, Minä Olen.

So the center of faith is GOD, who IS. Once again we end up in the name revealed to Moses from the burning bush אהיה EHYEH, I Am.

Tämän Heprealaiskirjeen jakeen kohdalla on ihmetelty, mitä Jumalan olemisella mahdetaan tarkoittaa, ja miten se tulisi kääntää englanniksi, jossa on verbit ’to be’ = olla ja ’to exist' = olla olemassa.

Regarding this verse of Hebrews, some people have wondered what God's being can mean, and how it should be translated into English, which has the verbs 'to be' and ’to exist.'

In the case of divinity, it should be perfectly clear that divine existence is eternal, and death cannot interrupt it, as it happens to human being when the heart and brain cease to function. Human existence is only temporary in this world.

Ihmisen olemas

But God has arranged through His Son for every person who believes in His name the opportunity to divine existence.

Siitä meitä vakuuttaa Habakukin teksti (2:4), jonka loppusanat kuuluvat hepreaksi: וצדיק באמונתי יהיה (ve-zadiq be-amunati jihje) mutta vanhurskas ON uskostaan.

We are convinced of this by the text of Habakkuk (2:4), for its final words are in Hebrew: וצדיק באמונתי יהיה (ve-zadiq be-amunati jihje) but the righteous IS by faith.

יהיה jihje on hepran olla-verbin muoto yksikön kolmannessa persoonassa, ja אהיה ehjee on heprean olla-verbin muoto yksikön ensimmäisessä persoonassa.

יהיה jihje is the form of the Hebrew verb to be in the third person in singular , and אהיה ehje/ehyeh is the form of the Hebrew verb to be in the first person in singular.

Ikuinen oleminen, ikuinen elämä, on mahdollista Jeshuassa uskon kautta Hänen nimeensä!

Eternal being, eternal life, is possible in Yeshua through faith in His name!

******************************************************

☞ Tässä yhteydessä on hyvä muistuttaa, että tetragrammi, יהוה (Jahve/Jehova), EI MERKITSE ”hän on”, sillä ’hän on’ on hepreaksi יהיה jihje! יהוה ei ole יהיה!

☞ In this context, it is good to remember that the Tetragrammaton יהוה, (Yahweh/Jehovah), DOES NOT MEAN "he is", because 'he is' is יהיה jihje in Hebrew! יהוה is not יהיה!

Jumalan Pojan pre-eksistenssi UT:ssa * The pre-existence of the Son of God in the NT

Muodonmuuttajia tunnetaan mytologiassa ja fiktiossa, kansantaruissa ja saduissa. Pidetään täysin sopivana lukea lapsille esim. Grimmin veljesten satua rupikonnaksi muuttuneesta prinssistä, mutta sopiiko heille kertoa Raamatun tekstien pohjalta Jumalan Pojan syntymisestä ihmiseksi.

Shapeshifters are known in mythology and fiction, folktales and fairy tales. It is considered perfectly appropriate to read to children, for example, the Grimm brothers' fairy tale about the prince who turned into a toad, but is it appropriate to tell them about the birth of the Son of God as a human based on the texts of the Bible.

Tämä kirjoitus on jatkoa edelliseen kirjoitukseeni; olen koonnut tähän kirjoitukseen Uuden Testamentin tekstejä, joiden pohjalta voidaan ajatella A) Jeshuan olleen olemassa taivaassa jo ennen ihmiseksi syntymistään ja B) Jeshuan olleen olemassa jo maailman luomisessa ja C) Jeshuan olleen olemassa jo sitäkin aikaisemmin.

This article is a continuation of my previous article; I have collected in this writing texts from the New Testament, on the basis of which it can be thought that A) Yeshua existed in heaven even before he was born as a man and B) Yeshua already existed at the creation of the world and C) Yeshua existed even earlier.

A) Jumalan Poika oli olemassa taivaassa jo ennen ihmiseksi tulemistaan:

A) The Son of God already existed in heaven before becoming a man:

John 1: 15: John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me.”

Johannes the Baptist was born half a year before his cousin, but he knew that Yeshua existed even before he was born.

John 3: 13: ”And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.”

In these words of Yeshua to Nicodemus recorded in the Gospel of John, there is a reference to 1. the creation of the earth and the ascension of Yeshua/the Word to heaven after that, 2. Yeshua's becoming a man and His coming down from heaven, 3. Yeshua's ascension to heaven after His death and resurrection, 4. to Yeshua as an eternal being, to His heavenly lineage.

John 3: 31: ”He that comet from above is above all: he that is of the earth is earthly, and speaketh of the earth: he that cometh from heaven is above all.”

John 6: 33: For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life into the world.”

John. 6: 38: ”For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.

John 6: 62: "What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before.”

John 8: 14: ”Jesus answered and said unto them, Though I bear record of myself, yet my record is true: for I know whence I came, and whither I go; but ye cannot tell whence I come, and whither I go.”

John 8: 23: ”And he (Yeshua) said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world.”

John 8: 58: ”Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.

Being human is temporary, because human life is limited between birth and death. Being the Son of God is as eternal as the Father's. He is always, He is EHYEH.

John 13: 3: ”Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he was come from God, and went to God”

John 16: 28: ”I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father.”

1. Cor. 15: 47: ”The first man is of the earth, earthly: the second man is the Lord from heaven.”

1. John 1: 2: ”For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us."

B) The Son of God already existed at the creation of the world:

John 1: 10: ”He ( the True Light) was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.”

1. Cor. 8: 6: ”But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.”

Col. 1: 16: ”For by him (the Son) were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him.”

Hebrews 1: 2: ”(God) Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds,”

Rev. 3: 14: ”And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write: These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God."

C) The Son of God already existed before the creation of the world:

John 17: 5: ”And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.”

John 17: 24: ”Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.”

Col. 1: 15, 17: ”Who (the Son) is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature... And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.”

1. Peter 1: 20: ”Who (Christ) verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you."

Sanal. 8: 22 - 31 * Prov. 8: 22 - 31

Jeshuan pre-existenssistä eli ennalta olemisesta löytyy Uudesta Testamentista noin kaksikymmentä tekstiä, joista valtaosa on Johanneksen evankeliumissa.

About twenty texts of Yeshua's pre-existence can be found in the New Testament, the majority of which are in the Gospel of John. But there are only two passages of such text in the Old Testament.

Yhden jakeen mittainen ilmoitus tästä asiasta on Miikan viidennen luvun alussa, ja se kuuluu seuraavasti: ”Mutta sinä, Beetlehem Efrata, joka olet vähäinen olemaan Juudan sukujen joukossa, sinusta minulle tulee se, joka on oleva hallitsija Israelissa, jonka alkuperä on muinaisuudesta, iankaikkisista ajoista.”

The one-verse announcement of this matter is at the beginning of the fifth chapter of Micah, and it reads as follows: But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; Whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting."

Toinen pidempi kappale Jeshuan ennalta olemisesta on Sanalaskujen kehdeksannen luvun jakeissa 22 - 31. Tässä Salomon nimiin kirjoitetussa tekstissä Jeshuasta käytetään nimeä ”Viisaus”, mikä on täysin oikeutettu nimi Hänelle, jonka viisautta juutalaiset joutuivat ihmettelemään tämän tästä (Matt. 13: 54; Mark. 6: 2), ja josta Luukas on kirjoittanut ”lapsi kasvoi ja vahvistui ja täyttyi viisaudella” (Luuk. 2: 40) ja ”Jeesus varttui viisaudessa ja iässä ja armossa” (Luuk. 2: 52).

Another longer passage about Yeshua's pre-existence is in the eighth chapter of Proverbs, verses 22 - 31. In this text written in the name of Solomon, the name "Wisdom" is used for Yeshua, which is a fully justified name for Him whose wisdom the Jews had to wonder about every now and then (Matt. 13: 54; Mark. 6: 2), and about which Luke wrote ”And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom” (Luke 2: 40) and ”And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature” (Luke 2: 52).

Tämän Sananlaskujen tekstin pohjalta on yritetty määritellä myös sitä, onko Jeshua luotu, vai onko Hän syntynyt. Mielestäni Sananlaskujen teksti ei puolla kumpaankaan näkemystä. Käyn seuraavaksi kyseisen kappaleen lävitse jae jakeelta ja vertaan  suomalaisia tekstejä hepreaan, kreikkaan (Septuaginta), latinaan (Vulgata), englantiin  ja saksaan. Jokainen lukija voi luoda oman mielipiteensä tästä kokonaisuudesta.

On the basis of this text of the proverbs, attempts have also been made to define whether Yeshua was created or whether He was born. In my opinion, the text of Proverbs does not support either view. Next, I will go through the passage in question verse by verse and compare Finnish texts with Hebrew, Greek (Septuagint), Latin (Vulgate), English and German. Each reader can create his own opinion about this whole.

📖 8: 22:

Suomalaiset käännökset - Finnish translations:

1642/1776 ”Minä olen ollut Herran oma”... I have been the Lord's

1938 ja 1992: ”Herra loi minut”... the Lord created me

2012: ”Herra omisti minut”... the Lord possessed me

The Hebrew text has the verb form קנני qanani, which comes from the verb קנן qanan, to nest/make a nest; קן qan is nest and לקנן leqanan means nests. The word ”own/possess" in Hebrew is להחזיק lehachaziq, and there is no such word in this Hebrew text. But perhaps the idea of a nest and nesting leads to such an interpretation, because everything that is in the nest is the property of the owner of the nest and is owned by him.

Kreikka/Englanti - Greek/English:

Septuagintan tekstissä on sana εκτιοεν ektioen, joka on käännetty englantilaisissa versioissa mm. ”possessed me”/omisti minut , ”brought me forth”/toi minut esiin, ”acquired me”/hankki minut, ”created me”/loi minu, ”formed me”/muotoili tai muovasi minut.

The Septuagint text has the word εκτιοεν ektioen, which is translated in English versions e.g. "possessed me", "brought me forth", "acquired me", "created me", "formed me".

Latina - Latin:

Vulgatan tekstissä lukee ”possedit me”... omisti minut.

The Vulgate text reads "possedit me”...  possessed me.

Saksa - German:

The Lord owned me from the beginning.

📖 8: 23:

Suomalaiset käännökset - Finnish translations:

1642/1776: ”olen minä asetettu”... am I set

1938: ”asetettu olemaan”... set to be

1992: "sain alkuni”... I got started

2012: ”minä olen ollut”... I have been

Heprea - Hebrew:

נספתי nispati/nisfati, minut on asetettu. Verbin perusmuoto on נסף nasap/nasaf, joka merkitsee ’asettaa kuninkaaksi’/’tehdä liitto’.

נספתי nispati/nisfati, I am set. The basic form of the verb is נשפ nasap/nasaf, which means to make king/to make a covenant. Already in eternity there was a covenant between the Father and the Son, and since ancient times Yeshua has been appointed as the King of God's Kingdom.

Kreikka/Englanti - Greek/English:

Septuagintan sana εθεμελιωσεν ethemeliosen on saanut englantilaisissa käännöksissä sellaisia muotoja kuin ”I was set up”/minut perustettiin, ”I was formed”/minut muodostettiin, ”I was established”/minut perustettiin, ”I was appointed”/minut nimitettiin.

The Septuagint word εθεμελιωσεν ethemeliosen has been given such forms in English translations as "I was set up", "I was formed", "I was established", "I was appointed".

Latina - Latin:

Vulgatan tekstissä lukee sana ”ordinata", joka merkitsee minut on määrätty.

The Vulgate text reads the word "ordinata", which means I am ordained.

Saksa - German:

Lutherin käännöksessä lukee: ”Ich bin eingesetzt”... olen otettu käyttöön.

Luther's translation reads: "Ich bin eingesetzt”... I have been put to use.

📖 8: 24:

Suomalaiset käännökset - Finnish translations:

1642/1776: ”olin jo syntynyt”... I was already born

1938: "ennen syvyyksiä synnyin minä”... before the depths I was born

1992: ”kun synnyin, ei syvyyksiä vielä ollut”... when I was born, there were no depths yet

2012: ”ennen... merten syvyyksiä... ennen lähteitä synnyin minä”... before... the depths of the seas... before the springs I was born

Lähes kaikki kirjoituksessani mainitut tekstit suomalaisten käännösten lisäksi puhuvat syntymisestä. Syntyä on hepreaksi להולד lehivaled, ja syntymä on לדה leda. Tällaisia sanoja ei tästä sananlaskujen tekstistä kuitenkaan löydy hepreaksi.

Almost all the texts mentioned in my writing, in addition to the Finnish translations, talk about birth. To be born is להולד lehivaled in Hebrew, and birth is לדה leda. However, such words are not found in this text of Proverbs in Hebrew.

In both this and the next verse, the Hebrew text has the word חוללתי chollalti. The basic form of the verb is חולל, which means (in the form holel) to give birth/create and (in the form holal) to be killed/die.

Yeshua's mission of salvation for humanity was thus already defined in eternity.

In this verse 8: 24 there are also two words (as a conjunction) נקבודי מים nikpade majim. Majim means water and the basic form of the other word is the verb קבד kabad, which means to be valued ->"the water valued/respected me".

Veden kunnioitus Jeshuaa kohtaan tuli esiin mm. Genesaretin järvellä, kun vedet kannattivat Mestaria. Jeshuan noustua Jordanin vesistä taivaasta kuului sanat: ”Tämä on minun rakas Poikani”. 1: 4).

Water's respect for Jeshua came out e.g. at the Lake of Gennesaret, when the waters supported the Master. When Yeshua rose from the waters of the Jordan, the words "This is my beloved Son" were heard from heaven. In the same way that Yeshua rose from the waters of the Jordan, He also rose from the grave, thus confirming that He is the Son of God (Rom. 1: 4).

Kreikka/Englanti - Greek/English:

KJV: before depts and fountains ”I was brought forth”/ennen syvyyksiä ja vuoria minut tuotiin esiin, NIV: ”I was given birth”/minut synnytettiin, CSB + NASB20 + NLT: ”I was born”/minä synnyin.

In this verse, there is no single word that can be picked up from the Septuagint, so I only give you a few translations from Greek to English. KJV: before depts and fountains "I was brought forth", NIV: "I was given birth", CSB + NASB20 + NLT: "I was born".

Latina - Latin:

”ego jam concepta eram”... minä olin jo suunniteltu.

"ego jam concepta eram”... I was already planned.

Saksa - German:

”ward ich geboren”... minä synnyin.

"ward ich geboren”... I was born.

📖 8: 25:

Suomalaiset käännökset - Finnish translations:

1642/1772: ennen vuoria ja kukkuloita ”olen minä syntynyt”... before mountains and hills I was born

1938/1992/2012: "synnyin minä”... I was born

Again, all texts speak of birth, but such a verb does not appear in Hebrew even in this verse.

Heprea - Hebrew:

Tässä jakeessa toistuu siis heprean sana חוללתי chollalti. Katso selitys edellisen jakeen kohdalta.

So in this verse the Hebrew word חוללתי chollalti is repeated. See the explanation in the previous verse.

Also in this verse, the Hebrew word shows that Yeshua's mission of salvation was defined and existed from eternity.

Kreikka - Greek:

Tässä jakeessa Septuagintassa esiintyy sana γεννα genna, joka merkitsee siittää/tulla isäksi/synnyttää/tulla äidiksi/syntyä/saada aikaan.

In this verse, the word γεννα genna appears in the Septuagint, which means to beget/become a father/give birth/become a mother/be born/bring about.

Latina - Latin:

Vulgatassa on sanat "ego parturiebar”... minä synnyin

The Vulgate has the words "ego parturiebar"... I was born

Saksa - German:

I was born

📖 8: 26:

Suomalaiset käännökset - Finnish translations:

1642/1776: ”ei hän ollut vielä maata luonut”... he had not yet created the earth

1938/2012: ”kun hän ei vielä ollut tehnyt maata”... when he had not yet made land

1992: ”ennen kuin hän teki maat ja mannut”... before he made the lands

In this text of Proverbs (Prov. 8: 22 - 31) there is a question about the time that was before the creation of the earth and the sky.

Heprea - Hebrew:

עד לא עשה ארץ ad lo asa erez... kun ei vielä oltu tehty maata

עד לא עשה ארץ ad lo asa erez... when the land was not yet made

Kreikka - Greek:

Herra loi maan

The Lord created the earth

"Adhuc terram non fecerat"... he had not yet made land

"als er die Erde noch nicht gemacht hatte"... when he had not yet made the earth

📖 8: 27:

Suomalaiset käännökset - Finnish translations:

1642/1776: ”Kuin hän valmisti taivaan, olin minä siellä”... When he made heaven, I was there

1938/2012: "olin minä siinä”... I was there

1992: ”olin läsnä”... I was present

Heprea - Hebrew:

שם אני sham ani... minä (olin) siellä

שם אני sham ani... I (was) there

Nämä sanat liittyvät kaikkeen siihen Jumalan tekemiseen, jota kuvataan jakeissa 27, 28 ja 29. Poika oli Isän tekemisessä kaiken keskellä läsnä.

These words are related to all of God's creation, which is described in verses 27, 28 and 29. The Son was present in the middle of everything in the Father's creation.

In the Septuagint, this verse only talks about the Father making/creating.

Latina - Latin:

”aderam”... olin läsnä

"aderam"... I was present

Saksa:

”war ich da”... minä olin siellä

"war ich da"... I was there

Everyone can read in their Bible verses 27, 28 and 29 about the creation of the sky/clouds and the sea/deep. And let us remember that Wisdom said: שם אני sham ani, I was (everywhere) there.

📖 8: 30:

Suomalaiset käännökset - Finnish translations:

1642/1776: ”silloin minä hänen kanssansa vaikutin”... then I worked with him

1938: ”silloin minä hänen sivullansa hoidokkina olin”... then I was his sidekick

1992: ”silloin minä, esikoinen, olin hänen vierellään”... then I, the firstborn, was by his side

2012: ”silloin minä olin hänen rinnallaan uskottuna”... then I was by his side as a confidant

Heprea - Hebrew:

Tässä jakeessa esiintyy Jumalan kannalta heprean tärkein verbi אהיה ehjee jopa kaksi kertaa. Tämä verbimuoto esiintyy Jumalan nimenä 2. Moos. 3:14:ssa.

In this verse, the most important Hebrew verb for God, אהיה ehyeh, appears even twice. This verb form appears as God's name in Exodus 3:14.

The correct translation of the word Ehjee has been fiercely debated; others are of the opinion that it should be translated in the future tense "I will be", but most commonly it is translated with the present tense "I am". But this verse shows most convincingly that the verb אהיה ehyeh can also be translated in the past tense "I was". The present tense ( I Am) is always a real tense for God the Father and His Son, no matter what time we humans are talking about; God is Ehyeh in the past, present and future.

It is completely pointless to argue whether Yeshua is a created being, or whether God begat Him, for this text about Wisdom affirms that He has always been with the Father. HE IS אהיה EHYEH.

Tässä jakeessa (8: 30) oleva heprean sana אנון amon merkitsee hoidokki/lemmikki/apulainen/työnjohtaja/käsityöläinen.

The Hebrew word אנון amon in this verse (8: 30) means nurse/pet/assistant/foreman/craftsman.

Yeshua was/is all of these; * As the Father's Beloved Son, His pet, * As the Father's nurse, Yeshua rose from the dead, because the Father raised/gave birth to His Son at that moment, * in creation and redemption, Yeshua can be seen as both the Father's helper and supervisor, * and as the son of Joseph and Miriam, Yeshua was a craftsman/carpenter.

Tämän jakeen sana שעשועים sha’ashuim on käännetty sanoilla ilo/ihastus. Sellaista merkitystä tälle sanalle on vaikea löytää heprean sanakirjoista.

The word שעשועים sha'ashuim in this verse is translated as joy/delight. It is difficult to find such a meaning for this word in Hebrew dictionaries. But the word seems to contain the familiar letters of the name ישוע Jeshua, which is sure to be the great joy and delight of every saved person.

Kreikka - Greek:

Septuagintan tekstissä esiintyvät sanat ημην imin ja εγω ημην ego imin, minä olen/olin. Kreikan tekstissä lukee: olin kiitollinen hänelle ja iloitsin hänen läsnäolostaan... kr. προσοπον prosopon... persoonasta.

The Septuagint text contains the words ημην imin and εγω ημην ego imin, I am/was. The Greek text reads: I was grateful to him and rejoiced in his presence... cr. προσοπον prosopon... of the person.

Latina - Latin:

Vulgatassa lukee "cum eo eram”... olin hänen kanssaan

The Vulgate reads "cum eo eram"... I was with him

Saksa - German:

I was his darling / beloved

📖 8: 31:

I played upon the circle of the earth... my joy is to be with the children of men

1938: ”leikitsin hänen maanpiirinsä päällä, ja ihastukseni olivat ihmislapset”... I played on his globe, and my crush was human children

1992: "Maan kiekko oli leikkikalunani, ilonani olivat ihmislapset”... The disc of the earth was my plaything, the children of men were my joy

2012: ”Minä leikin hänen maanpiirinsä päällä, ja ihastuksenani olivat ihmislapset”... I played on his globe, and my crush was human children

Heprea - Hebrew:

משחקת בתבל ארצו  mesacheqet betebel arezu, leikitsin asutussa maailmassa hänen maapallollaan... מחחםת בתבל ארצו mesacheqet betebel arezu, I played in the inhabited world on his earth

Sanassa  משחקת mesacheqet on hauskasti piilossa tuttuja kirjaimia sanasta משיח Messias, joka on Jumalan Voideltu, ihmiskunnan Pelastaja.

In the word מחחםת mesacheqet, there are funny hidden familiar letters from the word משיח Messiah, who is God's Anointed, the Savior of mankind.

Vaikka ihmiskunnan lunastaminen oli Jeshualle raskas tehtävä, mikä ilmeni Hänen rukouksessaan Getsemanessa, Hän iloitsi/iloitsee sen lopputuloksesta kuin lapsi iloitsee leikkiessään.

Although the redemption of mankind was a hard task for Yeshua, as manifested in His prayer in Gethsemane, He rejoiced/rejoices in its outcome as a child rejoices in playing.

Kreikka - Greek:

ευφραινετο eyfraineto, hän oli iloinen... ευφραινετο eyfraineto, he was happy

Latina - Latin:

”Ludens in orbe terram”... I played around the world... and rejoiced in the children of men

Saksa - German:

I played on his earth and enjoyed the children of men

Human life is limited to birth and death, but the Eternal Father has opened the gate to eternity for us. Eternity has no boundaries, no beginning and no end. So even God has no limit. The Father has always been, and the Son has been in His nest. How, we cannot know, but do we even need to know!

Kiitos kuluneesta vuodesta 2023, arvoisat lukijani!

Varmassa suojassa * Safely protected

When danger threatens, the bird can raise its wings, soar to the heights and escape the impending danger. As a wingless creature, man does not have such an opportunity, but has to stand on his feet and run away.

In Christian church art, the wing and the wings are a symbol of the protection given to man by God. Many Bible texts are an obvious starting point for this symbolism.

Siipi on hepreaksi כנף (kanap). Sana esiintyy ensimmäisen kerran Vanhassa Testamentissa jakeessa 2. Moos. 19: 4, jossa Jumala sanoo Moosekselle ”minä olen kantanut teitä kotkan siivillä” על כנפי נשרים.

Wing is in Hebrew כנף (kanap). The word appears for the first time in the Old Testament in verse Exodus 19: 4, where God says to Moses "I bare you on eagle’s wings" על כנפי נשרים.

Egyptistä lähteneiden israelilaisten pelastuminen perässä rynnistävien egyptiläisten joukkojen kynsistä on suuri ihme.

The rescue of the Israelites who left Egypt from the clutches of the pursuing Egyptian troops is a great miracle. The angry army behind and the water area in front was a sure death trap, but the God who led the people of Israel lifted them up on the Eagle's wings, and they got to safety.

Moos. 32: 11).

The eagle that carried the entire nation on its wings was the great God, the Creator of the universe. That experience had impressed Moses very deeply, because even at the end of his earthly life, on the border of the land of Canaan, he sang about God’s power with the following words: ”As an eagle stirreth up her nest, fluttereth over her young, spreadeth abroad her wings, taketh them, beareth them on her wings” (Deut. 32: 11).

The knowledge of Israel's salvation from the pursuit of the Egyptian forces remained in the memory of generations, and the symbolism used in that connection was familiar even in the time of the judges. At that time, the family of Elimelech and Naomi, who fled from Bethlehem to Moab due to famine, faced difficulties in their lives. Their two sons took wives from Moabite maidens, but after a while both the father Elimelech and the sons, Mahlon and Kiljon, died, and Naomi was left with her two Moabite daughters-in-law.

Noomi wanted to return to her homeland, and at first both daughters-in-law, Orpa and Ruth, followed her. However, Naomi persuaded her daughters-in-law to return to their own families. The orphan followed Naomi's advice, but Ruth decided to follow Naomi and Naomi's God.

One day when Ruth was picking heads of ears of corn, she met her kinsman and future husband, Boaz, who said: ”The Lord recompense thy work, and a full reward be given thee of the Lord God of Israel, under whose wings thou art come to trust" (Rut. 2: 12).

Booaksen Jumala on אהיה Ehjee, jonka edessä Ruut kokee olevansa muukalainen. Kuitenkin Booas toivottaa Ruutille siunausta ja täyttä palkkaa siltä Jumalalta, jonka siipien alta hän on tullut suojaa etsimään.

The Tetragrammaton יהוה also appears in this verse, but the text is very understandable without it. When the word אהיה ehjee appears in Ruth's answer in the next verse (in the negative form לא אהיה lo ehjee, I am not), a very clear picture of the contrast that prevails between these two verses emerges. Boaz's God is אהיה Ehjee, before whom Ruth feels like a stranger. However, Boaz wishes Ruth a blessing and a full reward from the God under whose wings she has come to seek shelter.

Myös Daavid tunsi hyvin tuon siipi-symbolismin. Siitä todistavat seuraavat viisi Daavidin psalmitekstiä.

David was also very familiar with that wing symbolism. The following five Psalm texts of David testify to that.

Ps. 17:8: ”Varjele minua niinkuin silmäterää, kätke minut siipiesi suojaan”... hepreaksi kätke minut siipiesi  בצל כנפיך תסתירני kätke minut siipiesi varjoon, sillä צל zel on ’varjo' ja בצל be-zel on ’varjossa’.

בצל צלב  be-zel zelav = ristin varjossa  Ja RISTI on todellinen suoja jokaisella ihmiselle!

1.

Ps. 17: 8: ”Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings”... in Hebrew The word צל zel is 'shadow' and בצל be-zel is 'in the shade’.

The exact same letters ב צ ל but in a different order are also in the word צלב zelab/zelav, which means a cross. בצל צלב be-zel zelav = in the shadow of the cross And the CROSS is the true protection for every person!

Tässä yhteydessä tulee mieleeni Erkki Lemisen teksti Jukka Salmisen melodiaan:

Ristin luona kiusatulla, langenneella vaivatulla paras paikka on. Siksi älä koskaan lähde, älä minkään synnin tähden ristin luota pois, ristin luota pois. Ristin luona ainoastaan synnin turmelusta vastaan voitto saatu on. Ristin luona ainoastaan Isä armahtavi lastaan, rauhan julistaa, rauhan julistaa. Ristin luona kiusatulla paras paikka on.

Ristin luona pohja kestää, armo putoomasta estää kauhun kuiluihin, kauhun kuiluihin. Ristin luona lepo koittaa, toivo epätoivon voittaa, sydän puhdistuu, sydän puhdistuu. Ristin luona ainoastaan synnin turmelusta vastaan voitto saatu on, voitto saatu on. Ristin luona ainoastaan Isä armahtavi lastaan, rauhan julistaa, rauhan julistaa. Ristin luona kiusatulla paras paikka on.

In this context, Erkki Leminen's text to Jukka Salminen's melody comes to my mind:

At the cross is the best place for the tormented, fallen afflicted. Therefore, never leave, do not for any sin leave the cross, leave the cross. At the cross, only victory over the corruption of sin has been gained. At the cross, only the Father has mercy on his child, proclaims peace, proclaims peace. The best place for the persecuted is at the cross.

At the cross, the bottom endures, grace prevents from falling into the pits of horror, into the pits of horror. At the cross, rest comes, hope overcomes despair, the heart is purified, the heart is purified. At the cross, only the victory over the corruption of sin has been won, the victory has been won. At the cross, only the Father has mercy on his child, proclaims peace, proclaims peace. The best place for the persecuted is at the cross.

2.

Ps. 36: 8: ”Kuinka kallis on sinun armosi, Jumala (Elohim)! Ihmislapset etsivät sinun siipiesi suojaa”

2.

Ps. 36: 7 ”How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God (Elohim)! therefore the children of menput their trust under the shadow of thy wings."

3.

Ps. 57: 2: ”Jumala (Elohim), ole minulle armollinen, ole minulle armollinen; sillä sinuun minun sieluni turvaa. Minä turvaan sinun siipiesi suojaan, kunnes onnettomuudet ovat ohitse.”

3.

Ps.57: 1: ”Be merciful unto me, O God (Elohim), be merciful unto me: for my soul trusteth in thee; yea, in the shadow of thy wings will I make my refuge, until these calamities be overpast. "

4.

Ps. 61: 5: ”Suo minun asua sinun majassasi iankaikkisesti, turvautua sinun siipiesi suojaan. Sela”

4.

Ps. 61: 4: ”I will abide  in thy tabernacle foe ever: I will trust in the covert of thy wings. Selah.”

David appeals to God three times in this psalm, as well as in the next psalm, 63.

5.

5.

Ps. 63: 7: ”Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice.”

Over time, the symbolism of the wings seems to have changed from a carrying and escaping force to a protected and safe place. A safe place is also spoken of in the psalm 91, which tells about the protection of the Most High, but the author of which is not stated. Psalm 91: 4: ”He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler."

The last Old Testament text using wing symbolism is found in Malachi 3:20/4:2: ”But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall."

Everyone who grew up in the countryside is probably familiar with the sight of cows and calves bouncing and jumping for joy after being released after a long and dark winter into the brightness and green pastures of spring.

Valitettavasti englanninkielinen kuningas Jaakon käännös (KJV) näyttää tukevan virheellistä tulkintaa käännöksellä "the Sun of righteousness", kun ”sun of the Righteous” olisi paremmin paikallaan.

Malachi writes about the Righteous One/Righteousness, who is God himself, and whose glory he compares to the sun (שמש צדקה). Healing takes place under the wings of that Righteous One/God. The sun created by God does protect life on earth, but it is not a real protection, security or healer. Unfortunately, the English King James Version (KJV) seems to support the wrong interpretation with its translation "the Sun of righteousness", when "sun of the Righteous" would be more appropriate.

Kuitenkin pakanuudessa tätä Malakian kirjan tekstiä näyttää käytetyn perusteluna epäjumalalle, joka kuvataan siivekkäänä aurinkona. Kulttuurista ja uskonnosta riippuen tuo siivekäs aurinko-jumala tunnetaan monella eri nimellä; Ra, Horus tai Hadit Egyptissä, Behretyn ja Faravahar Persiassa jne.

However, in paganism this text from the book of Malachi seems to have been used as justification for an idol depicted as a winged sun. Depending on the culture and religion, that winged sun god is known by many different names; Ra, Horus or Hadit in Egypt, Behretyn and Faravahar in Persia, etc.

In the world of this moment, the future looks uncertain in every way, and ”men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth" (Luk. 21: 26).

People's fear is caused solely by the fact that they have not wanted to come to the shelter that the Father and the Son have prepared for each person. Yeshua also used wing symbolism, but he spoke of the hen's wings in Matt. 23: 37; Luke 13:34). He rebuked Jerusalem and its inhabitants for not wanting to hear his call.

W.O.Cushing: ”1.

W. O. Cushing:

1. Under His wings I am safely abiding;

Though the night deepens and tempests are wild,

Still I can trust Him -- I know He will keep me,

He has redeemed me and I am His child.

Refrain:

Under His wings, under His wings,

Who from His love can sever?

Under His wings my soul shall abide,

Safely abide forever.

2. Under His wings, what a refuge in sorrow!

How the heart yearningly turns to His rest!

Often when earth has no balm for my healing,

There I find comfort, and there I am blessed.

3. Under His wings, O what precious enjoyment!

There will I hede till life’s trials are o’er;

Sheltered, protected, no evil can harm me,

Resting in Jesus I’m safe evermore.
