Käydessäni läpi Uuden Testamentin kirjoja nähdäkseni, miten eri kirjoittajat kutsuvat Jeshuaa, olen törmännyt toistuvasti nimeen "Kristus". Sehän on kreikankielinen muunnos hepreankielisestä nimestä המשיח (ha-mashiah = Messias = Voideltu).
Going through the books of the New Testament to see how the authors call Yeshua I have repeatedly come across with the name "Christ". This is the Greek translation of the Hebrew name המשיח (ha-mashiah = Messiah = Anointed).
Vanhaa Testamenttia lukiessamme huomio kiinnittyy Messias-ennustuksiin. Muistan, miten laadimme koulussa niistä pitkän listan. Myöhemmin olen löytänyt niitä huomattavasti useampia heprean ja aramean teksteistä.
As we read the Old Testament, our focus is on Messiah prophecies. I can remember how we made a long list of them at school. Later I have found them much more in the Hebrew and Aramaic texts.

En ihmettele yhtään, etteivät juutalaiset tunnista Messiasta, kun kristityt ovat menneet muutamaan Hänet Kristukseksi. Mutta tämänhän on vain yksi pieni osa suurempaa nimien vaihtokampanjaa!
The New Testament proves how Old Testament prophecies were fulfilled in Yeshua's life. Why has that beautiful promise name "Messiah" been changed? The Messiah of the Old Testament prophecies has become hidden in this way! The name "Messiah" appears only in the verses Matthew 22: 45, John 1: 41; 4: 25; Acts 4: 26 and in the version of 1992 in the verses Mark 12; 37; 14: 61; Luke 4: 41; 9: 20 ; 20: 44; 22: 67; 23: 35, 39 ; 24: 26; John 4: 25, 29; 7: 31, 41, 42; 9: 22; 12: 34; Acts 2: 36 ; 5: 42. No wonder Jews do not recognise the Messiah, when Christians have gone to convert Him into "Christ"! But this is just a small part of the bigger name change campaign!
Kirjoitin omaan Raamattuuni jokaisen "Kristus"-nimen kohdalle nimen Messias". Lukiessani sitten evankelistojen sekä Paavalin ja Pietarin tekstejä Jeshuasta, yhteys Vanhan Testamentin Messias-ennustuksiin avautui samalla hetkellä. Sana "Messias" luo aivan erilaisen yhteyden Vanhan Testamentin lupauksiin kuin tuo kreikkalainen nimi, ja Vanha ja Uusi Testamentti sulautuvat yhdeksi kokonaisuudeksi.
I wrote the name "Messiah" for each "Christ" in my Bible. Then, as I read the text of the Evangelists and Paul and Peter about Yeshua, the connection to the Messiah prophecies in The Old Testament opened at once. The word "Messiah" creates a very different connection to Old Testament promises than the Greek name, and the Old and New Testaments merge into one entity.
