Edellisen kirjoitukseni Jeremian teksti pakotti selvittämään hiukan lisää aihetta Elämänpuu eli Sefirot. Elämänpuu on universaali symboli, joka on periytynyt sumereilta juutalaisille. Esoteerinen (salaileva ja sisäpiirille tarkoitettu) Kabbala, joka on peräisin keskiajalta (500 - 1400), on omaksunut sen ja levittänyt sen tuntemusta muihin esoteerisiin traditioihin.

Jeremiah's text in my previous blog writing forced me to study more the concept of the Tree of Life or Sephirot. Sephirot is a universal symbol, inherited from Sumerians to Jews. Esoteric (secretive and insider) Kabbalah dating back to the Middle Ages (500 - 1400) has embraced it and spread its knowledge to other esoteric traditions.

Elämänpuun motiivit ovat moninaisia ja sisältävät mm. uskontoa, psykologiaa, astrologiaa, metafysiikkaa, filosofiaa. Elämänpuu rakentuu 10 näkyvästä sefirasta (absoluutin emanaatioista) ja yhdestä spekulatiivisesta sefirasta. Sefiroita yhdistää heprean aakkosten mukaan 22 polkua ja 3 vertikaalista pilaria, jotka edustavat voimaa, kauneutta ja viisautta.

The Motifs of the Tree of Life are diverse and include religion, psychology, astrology, metaphysic and philosophy. The Tree of Life is made up of then Sephirahs (the emanations of the absolut) and one speculative Sephirah. The Sephirahs are connected with 22 paths according to 22 Hebrew Alphabets and three vertical pillars representing power, beauty and wisdom.

Elämänpuussa voidaan nähdä kolme kolmiota; jumalallinen, henkinen ja materiaalinen. Ylimmät sefirat edustavat jumaluutta ja alin sefira maailmaa. Sefirat on numeroitu ykkösestä kymmeneen, joista ykkönen on ylin ja kymppi on alin. Linja 1:stä 10:een ja päinvastoin mutkittelee kuin salama tai käärme. Laskeva reitti 1:stä 10:een edustaa hengen materialisoitumista (salama), ja nouseva reitti 10:stä 1:een kuvaa puolestaan aineen evoluutiota henkeen (käärme). Mieleeni tulee käärmeen sanat: "tulette niin kuin Jumala tietämään hyvän ja pahan" (1. Moos. 3: 5).

In the Tree of Life there are three triangles; divine, spiritual and material. The highest Sephirahs represent divinity/deity and the lowest Sephirah describes the world. The Sephirahs are numbered from 1 to 10, and 1 is the highest and 10 is the lowest. The way from 1 to 10 or the other way round is meandering like a flash or a serpent. The descending path from 1 to 10 represents the materialization of the spirit (flash) and the ascending path from 10 to 1 describes the evolution of matter into spirit (serpent). The words of the serpent comes to my mind: "and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil" (Gen. 3: 5).

Jokaisen nimen lukuarvo voidaan laskea heprean kirjaimista. Chesed-sefirassa oleva nimi El on lukuarvoltaan 31. Sama lukuarvo on myös edellisessä kirjoituksessani esille tulleella nimellä היהוה (määreinen artikkeli + tetragrammi), joten senkin paikka on Chesedissä. Chesedin ja Binahin välillä on kuolemanportti, Da'at, jonka läpi täytyy kulkea päästäkseen joko ylemmäksi tai alemmaksi Elämänpuussa.

The numeric value of each name can be calculated from Hebrew letters. In Chesed the numeric value of the name El is 31. The name היהוה (the definite article + the Tetragrammaton), I wrote about in my previous text, has also the same numeric value, therefore it belongs to Chesed, too. Between Chesed and Binah there is a death gate called Da'at, through which you must pass higher or lower in the Tree of Life.

Minulle Jumala on YKSI, ja koen täysin tarpeettomaksi sirotella hänen nimiään 10 sefiraan! Kaiken lisäksi näyttää siltä kuin noita nimiä olisi väkisin tehtailtu lisää, vaikka kaikkia Raamatussa mainittujakaan ei ole otettu lukuun. Varmaan Elämänpuu miellyttää niitä, jotka haluavat etsiä elämäänsä seikkailua ja pelata uhkarohkeaa peliä henkien kanssa.

I think God is ONE, and therefore I find it unnecessary to sprinkle His names into 10 Sephiras. More over it seems to me that some name has been made by force, though some names mentioned in the Bible have been left away. Surely the Tree of Life pleases those who want to seek excitement and adventurous play with spirits.

Raamatusta näyttää siis löytyvän kabbalistien sormenjälkiä  Miksikä muuksi voisi sanoa Jes. 12: 3:n tekstiä, jossa lukee יה יהוה = Jah Jahve/Jah Jehova. Ellei tuota jaetta olisi, kuka uskoisi Pyhään Tetraktys-kolmioon, jossa Jah on oleellisen tärkeä osatekijä. Ja sitten tuo Jer. 8: 19:n teksti: היהוה (se Jahve/Jehova). Minusta se vaikuttaa väkisin tehdyltä, jotta saadaan Chesediin samanniminen jumaluus kuin Binahissakin on. Pitäähän Da'at'in läpi kulkiessa selvitä elävänä!

So the Bible seems to have fingerprints of the Kabbalists. What else we can say about the text of Isa 12: 3: יה יהוה= Yah Yahweh/ Yah Jehovah. Without that text, who could ever trust on the Holy Tetraktys, in which Yah is an essential component. And then Jer. 8: 19: היהוה (the Yahweh/the Jehovah). It seems to me to be forcibly done in order to get to Chesed a deity of the same name as in Binah. The same one must be alive even after Da'at!
