Keräsin edelliseen kirjoitukseeni suuren määrän verbejä, jotka ilmaiset Raamatussa Jumalan hengen toimintaa ja totesin, että hengen toiminta on luonteeltaan henkistä eikä fyysistä. Kenties joku tarkka Raamatun lukija ehti jo ihmetellä, että minne jäi aivan ensimmäinen verbi, joka esiintyy 1. Moos. 1: 2:ssa, jossa sanotaan, että ”Jumalan henki liikkui vetten päällä”. Kyseinen verbi tulee nyt tässä erillisessä kirjoituksessa, sillä heprean verbi מרחפת (merachepeth) vaatii lähempää tarkastelua.
In my previous article, I collected a large number of verbs that express the activity of God's spirit in the Bible and I stated that the activity of the spirit is spiritual and not physical in nature. Perhaps some careful reader of the Bible already had time to wonder where is the very first verb that appears in Genesis 1: 2, which said that "the spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters”. The verb in question comes in this separate entry, because the Hebrew verb מרחפת (merachepeth) requires a closer look.
Kyseinen heprean verbi on käännetty suomeksi sanalla ”liikkui”, englanniksi ”moved” (liikkui), saksaksi ”schwebte” (kellui), ruotsiksi ”svävade” (leijui). Heprean sana tarkoittaa juuri kaikkea tällaista liikkumista. Sanakirjoista löytyy seuraavia vaihtoehtoja sanalle מאחפת (merachepeth): lepattaa, tutista, täristä, vavista, väristä, järistä, järähdellä, hytistä, leijua, leijailla, kellua, lipua, lillua. ”Jumalan henki” oli siis koko maapalloa peittävän veden yllä liikkuen siinä edellä kuvatulla tavalla. Jumalan henki ei siis kävellyt veden päällä, niin kuin Jeeshua teki ihmisenä ollessaan.
The Hebrew verb in question has been translated into Finnish by the word "liikkui", in English "moved", in German "schwebte" (floated), in Swedish "svävade" (floated). The Hebrew word means exactly all such movement. Dictionaries can find the following options for the word מאחפת (merachepeth): flutter, shudder, shake, shiver, quiver, quake, tremble, wiggle, hover, float, waft, glide, float. The "spirit of God" was therefore over the water covering the entire earth, moving on it as described above. So God's spirit did not walk on water, as Jeshua did when he was human.
Koska Jumala on henki (Joh. 4: 28), ja koska taivas on Jumalan valtaistuin, ja maa on Hänen jalkojensa astinlauta (Jes. 66: 1), silmiemme eteen muodostuu kuva koko vesipallon päällä leijuvasta Henki-Jumalasta, joka synnytti väkevillä luomisanoillaan järähtelyä, kun maa tuli esiin vesien alta, kun ilmakehä erotti vedet vesistä ja kun aurinko, kuu ja tähdet asetettiin sijoilleen. Kysymyksessä oli universumin suurin spektaakkeli! Tekijänä oli itse Jumala, ELOHIM, joka on henki, ja Hänen Poikansa, Sana, joka Hänkin on henki (2. Kor. 3: 17, 18).
Because God is a spirit (John 4: 28), and because heaven is God's throne, and the earth is His footstool (Isa. 66: 1), before our eyes a picture is formed of the Spirit-God hovering over the whole sphere of water causing a tremor with His powerful words of creation, when the earth emerged from under the waters, when the atmosphere separated the waters from the waters, and when the sun, moon, and stars were set in their places. It was the biggest spectacle in the universe! The author was God Himself, ELOHIM, who is spirit, and His Son, the Word, who is also a spirit (2 Cor. 3: 17, 18).
