Vanhaa Testamentti lukiessa ei voi välttyä siltä mielikuvalta, että Jahve/Jehova (יהוה) on kiivas ja kostonhaluinen Jumala. Mikäli tällainen kuva on jäänyt joltakin huomaamatta, tämä asia on ilmaistu myös varsin selkein sanoin.
When reading the Old Testament, you can't avoid the image that Yahweh/Jehovah (יהוה) is a fierce and vengeful God. If someone has missed such a picture, this matter has also been expressed in quite clear words.

In English/KJV: ”God is jealous, and the LORD revengeth; the LORD will take vengeance on his adversaries, and he reserveth wrath for his enemies."
Taisi asia tulla kerralla selväksi. Mutta jos jotakuta jäi epäilyttämään, asiaa voi tarkastella vielä seuraavien Vanhan Testamentin tekstien valossa 2. Moos. 34: 14; 5. Moos. 4: 24; Joos. 24: 19. Teksteissä esiintyvä heprean sana קנא qanna tai קנוא qanno merkitsee yksiselitteisesti ’mustasukkaista, kadehtivaa/kateellista’ (vertaa engl. teksti edellä), vaikka kyseiset sanat on käännetty suomeksi sanalla ’kiivas’.
I think that matter became clear at once. But if someone had doubts, the matter can yet be examined in the light of the following Old Testament texts Exodus 34: 14; Deuteronomy 4: 24; Josh. 24: 19. The Hebrew word קנא qanna or קנוא qanno that appears in the texts clearly means 'jealous, envious/jealous’ (like in the English text above), although the words in question have been translated into Finnish as 'fierce'.

The same variation in translation also appears in the Finnish translations of the New Testament. All the New Testament's Finnish kiivaus-texts should be read from both the 1938 and 1992 translations, the latter of which follows the literal meaning.
Sanakirjoissa luetellaan heprean sanojen varsinaisten merkitysten lisäksi myös ne vaihtoehdot, joilla jokin sana on käännetty, mutta minkään sanan keksitty/muunneltu käännös ei ole hepreaa, eikä se muutu siksi edes Raamatussa!
Dictionaries list not only the actual meanings of Hebrew words, but also the alternatives with which a word is translated, but the invented/altered translation of any word is not Hebrew, and therefore does not change even in the Bible!
Kostosta... Jahven kostosta puhutaan myös Roomalaiskirjeessä. Room. 12: 19 on lainausta 5. Moos. 32: 35:stä. ”Älkää itse kostako, rakkaani, vaan antakaa sijaa Jumalan vihalle, sillä kirjoitettu on: ’Minun on kosto, minä olen maksava, sanoo Herra.’”
Revenge... Yahweh's revenge is also spoken about in the Book of Romans. Rom. 12:19 is a quote from Deuteronomy 32:35. ”Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.”
Jahven/Jehovan (יהוה) luonne ja toimintatapa käyvät varsin selvästi ilmi em. teksteistä!
Yahweh/Jehovah's (יהוה) character and way of working are quite clearly evident from the above texts!
Mutta mitä Jeshua onkaan opettanut! Pääsikö se jo unohtumaan? Jeshuan opetuksethan korjaavat sitä vääristymää, joka ihmiskunnan keskuudessa oli päässyt syntymään Jumalasta, Jeshuan Isästä. Poika, joka on Isän helmassa, tuntee Isän parhaiten (Joh. 1: 18)!
But what has Yeshua taught! Has it already been forgotten? After all, Yeshua's teachings correct the distortion that had been born among mankind from God, Yeshua's Father. The Son who is in the Father's bosom knows the Father best (John 1: 18)!
Kerratkaamme pieni kappale Jeshuan Vuorisaarnasta:
”Te olette kuulleet sanotuksi: ’Silmä silmästä ja hammas hampaasta’. Mutta minä sanon teille: älkää tehkö pahalle vastarintaa; vaan jos joku lyö sinua oikealle poskelle, käännä hänelle toinenkin; ja jos joku tahtoo sinun kanssasi käydä oikeutta ja ottaa ihokkaasi, anna hänen saada vaippasikin; ja jos joku pakottaa sinut yhden virstan matkalle, kulje hänen kanssaan kaksi. Let's repeat a short passage from Yeshua's Sermon on the Mount:
”Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloke also. And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain. Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away. Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you. That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so? Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect” (Matthew 5: 38 - 48).
Jeshuan Taivaallinen Isä ei siis vastaa millään muotoa Vanhan Testamentin Jahvea/Jehovaa (יהוה)!
Yeshua's Heavenly Father does not correspond in any way to the Old Testament Yahweh/Jehovah (יהוה)!
