Paavi Franciscus julkaisi 2. paimenkirjeensä, ensyklikan, 18. 6. 2015., ja tuon kirjeen otsikkona oli Laudato Si (Ole ylistetty/olet ylistetty). Kirjeen alkusanat on lainausta Franciscus Assisilaisen Aurinkolaulusta vuodelta 1224. Kirje on valtavan pitkä ja huolella laadittu, sen teemana on ihmiskunnan ja ympäristön monitahoinen kriisi. Ilmastonmuutos ja biodiversiteetti ovat ajankohtaisia aiheita nyt, kun Luojan luoma monimuotoisuus on vakavasti uhattuna. Kohtuullinen ja toisia huomioiva elämäntapa on ehdottomasti hyvä asia, jota minäkin kannatan. Paavi haastaa yksilöt, perheet, yhteisöt ja kansakunnat rakentamaan uutta elämäntapaa, jota jokaisen tulee oppia myös noudattamaan.
Pope Francis published his 2nd Shepherd Letter, the Encyclical, June 18, 2015, and the title of that letter was Laudato Si (Be Praised/You Are Praised). The foreword to the letter is a quote from the Sun Song of Franciscus of Assisi from 1224. The letter is enormously long and carefully crafted, with a theme of the complex crisis of humanity and the environment. Climate change and biodiversity are topical issues now that the diversity created by the Creator is under serious threat. A reasonable and caring lifestyle is definitely a good thing, which I also support. The Pope is challenging individuals, families, communities, and nations to build a new way of life that everyone must also learn to follow.
Mutta se mitä kaikkea paavi tarkoittaa ”uudella elämäntavalla” jää kirjeessä hiukan arvailujen varaan. Huomioni kiinnittyi mm. kirjeen panteistisiin ajatuksiin kuten: ’maailmankaikkeus puhkeaa kukkaan Jumalassa’, ja kuinka paavi vertaa maata ihmisten äidiksi ja sisareksi Franciscus Assisilaisen tavoin. Ensyklika on tarkoitettu kaikille maailman kansoille ja se on kirjoitettu italiaksi, saksaksi, englanniksi, espanjaksi, ranskaksi, puolaksi, portugaliksi ja arabiaksi.
But what the pope means by the “new way of life” in the letter is left to some speculation. My attention was drawn to e.g. to the pantheistic ideas of the letter such as ‘the universe blossoms in God’, and how the Pope compares the earth to the mother and sister of men like Francis of Assisi. The Encyclical is intended for all peoples of the world and is written in Italian, German, English, Spanish, French, Polish, Portuguese and Arabic.
Kuuden kuluneen vuoden ajan paavi Franciscus on nostanut kirjeensä uudelleen ja uudelleen median huomion kohteeksi. 11.11. 2020 hän antoi lausunnossaan pientä lisäselvitystä koskien ”uutta elämäntapaa”, joka kaikkien ihmisten tulisi oppia. Mediassa kirjoitettiin mm. ”paavin kiertokirje kehottaa toteuttamaan sunnuntain viikottaisena lepopäivänä ympäristön säästämiseksi.”
For the past six years, Pope Francis has raised his letter again and again for media attention. 11.11. 2020, in his statement, he provided a little more clarification regarding the “new way of life” that all people should learn. The media wrote e.g. "The Pope's letter calls for Sunday to be implemented as a weekly day of rest to save the environment."
Miten ihmeessä joku tietty päivä ihmisten lepopäivänä voisi pelastaa Luojan luoman ympäristön, kun se on vielä täysin väärä päivä?! Jumala, joka loi maan ja taivaan kuudessa päivässä, lepäsi (שהת = shabat) seitsemäntenä päivänä, sapattina/lauantaina, eikä viikon ensimmäisenä päivänä, sunnuntaina.
How in the world could a certain day as the day of rest save the environment created by the Creator when it is still a completely wrong day ?! God, who created the earth and the sky in six days, rested (שהת = shabat) on the seventh day, the Sabbath/Saturday, and not the first day of the week, Sunday.
Vaikuttaa vahvasti siltä, että sunnuntain pyhitys-suositus ei ole alkuunkaan tarkoitettu universumin Luojan kunniaksi. Ja jotenkin oudoksuttaa tuo päivämäärä 11.11. 2020, sillä onhan numeroiden summa (26), sama kuin tetragrammin luku.
It seems strongly that Sunday's sanctification recommendation is not intended at all for the glory of the Creator of the universe. And somehow weird that date is 11.11. 2020, because the sum (26) of the numbers is the same as the number of the Tetragrammaton.
Jokin aika sitten löysin netistä jälleen paavin ensyklikaa koskevan kirjoituksen. Siinä kerrottiin paavin uusimmasta suunnitelmasta alkaen 25. 5. 2021. Se on 7-vuotissuunnitelma, joka jakautuu osiin 1-5-1 siten, että ensimmäisen vuoden aikana laaditaan ympäristön pelastamiseksi ohjelmia ja suunnitelmia, joita ryhdytään sitten aktiivisesti toteuttamaan viiden seuraavan vuoden aikana, ja 7. vuosi tulee olemaan sapattivuosi, ylistys- ja kiitosvuosi. Näinkö paavi aikoo korvata sapatinpäivän sapattivuodella?! Mieleen nousee kysymys siitä, mikä onkaan se jumala, joka tulee saamaan ylistyksen ja kiitoksen, kun jo ensyklikan alkusanat ohjaavat lukijan ajatuksen aurinkoon, kuuhun ja tähtiin Franciscus Assisilaisen Aurinkolaulun kautta.
Some time ago, I found again an article on the Internet about the papal encyclical. It reported on the Pope’s most recent plan beginning on May 25, 2021. It is a 7-year plan, divided into sections 1-5-1, with making programs and plans to save the environment during the first year, which will then be actively implemented over the next five years, and the 7th year will be a Sabbath year, a year of praise and thanksgiving. Did the Pope plan to replace the Sabbath with the Sabbath year ?! The question arises who is the god that will then receive praise as the very first words of the Encyclical guide the reader’s thought to the sun, moon, and stars through the Sun Song of Franciscus of Assisi.
Haastaessaan kaikki niin tieteen ja taiteen kuin uskonnon ja politiikan yms. edustajat tulemaan mukaan ympäristötalkoisiin, paavi sanoo ’kirkko ei pyri ratkaisemaan tieteellisiä ongelmia eikä korvaamaan politiikkaa’. Mutta sen sijaan Jumalan varpaille kirkko uskaltaa astua, ja niinhän katolinen kirkko on tehnyt jo pitkään.
In challenging all representatives of science and art as well as religion and politics, etc. to get involved in environmental work, the pope says ‘the church does not seek to solve scientific problems or replace politics’. But instead, the church dares to step on God’s toes, and that is what the Catholic Church has been doing for a long time.
